A vision brought to life 💛 The Oboya Foundation.

Our Athletics Carnival was about so much more than races. Throughout the day, we watched confidence grow, connections form, and personalities shine as the kids found their rhythm, stepped into themselves, and made new friends. This is what it’s all about.

Thank you to @collingwood_harriers for providing the space to bring this vision to life. Thank you to every volunteer who showed up with care, energy and encouragement, and to the parents and families who trusted us with their children and created such a supportive atmosphere - this day truly wouldn’t have happened without you.

A huge thank you to @irfaanx for capturing the moments in between - the smiles, the laughter and everything that made this day special.

Seeing it all unfold filled my heart in ways I can’t fully put into words 🥹
This is just the beginning.

On Friday night, at the Oboya Foundation launch, I stood in a room filled with new faces, family, and friends & I felt so much love. 🥹 It was especially wholesome sitting next to my dad - someone who has supported me, believed in me, & continues to do so and sharing conversations about creating opportunities for children. That moment meant more than I can put into words.

I hope that when I’m older, I can look back on this journey and see how many lives we’ve impacted, how many families we’ve supported, and how much we’ve grown.

To every child who feels unseen or limited by circumstance, your worth is not defined by where you start.
And to every parent doing everything they can for their children, your sacrifices matter more than you know. 🫶🏾

Opportunity changes lives. And when we create it for others, we create a better future for all of us.
Through free training sessions and workshops, we’re working to ensure access is never the reason a child misses out.

Thank you to everyone who shared a post, followed our journey, came to the launch, messaged me, bought a @thegoodgratitude book for a child or for themselves, supported in any way & to the dancers who brought such beautiful energy to the room - it all means more to me than words can describe. Every bit of support feels unreal, and I’m endlessly grateful.

And a special thank you to @zufi____ for your support and belief in this vision. 💌

We created the Oboya Foundation so African young people could see a reflection of themselves - because representation matters.

As the foundation has grown, I’ve taken a step back and really reflected on the message I want to share. At its core, it’s about belonging.

Belonging means everyone feels welcome. It’s the moment a young person steps into a space, sees what’s possible for them, and believes, “I can be here too.”

Founded within the African community, the Oboya Foundation exists because representation was missing - but our doors are open to all young people. You do not have to be from a certain background to belong here.

If you walk into this space and see someone who looks like you doing what you dream of doing - whether in sport, in life, or in leadership - that’s belonging. 💛
