💜The best three tracks of my favorite and most loved female house producers. Records I loved to death. Deep Sensation — Reelin’ With The Feelin’ (Deep Jazz Dub)Yoshitoshi Records, 1995 I always loved the B-Sides. Going through my old 90s house records — including scratches, worn sleeves, yellowed covers. Heavily loved since the 90s. #90s #deephouse #vinylcommunity #yoshitoshi #90shouse by @ocd.housemusic
Early mid ’90s Berlin. The question was: food or a record. I picked the record. Living in Berlin as a broke student who loved house music put me in that decision all the time: a meal, or a record. Most 12-inches were 10–14 Deutsche Mark, depending on the label. It was the peak of DJ goatees and Freitag bags worn cross-body. If you were DJing, it was vital to know the record store owners — they were the gatekeepers. If they liked you, they’d reach into their back drawers and pulled out the real treasures, the fresh releases only a selected few had seen yet. I started DJing purely for the love of it. I didn’t want eyes on me while I mixed — just me, the records, and a 20-Deutsche Mark flea-market mixer that crackled and rustled through every transition. I also wasn’t anal with my vinyl. At parties everything moved fast: sleeves got mixed up, records went back into the wrong covers. And once — mid-set in a tiny Berlin club — another DJ actually tried to slip one of my best ones into his box. Life happened, and with it the moving around the world. I stopped DJing and didn’t even notice I’d stopped. Berlin to Amsterdam to LA to Amsterdam, and now New York- and my old house records are still in a container somewhere between worlds. I can’t wait to mix them again. Just for me, just for the love of housemusic. My 90ies favorite record stores: 🪩Hardwax 1989-1996 at Reichenberger Straße Berlin and then since 1996 Paul Lincke Ufer 🪩Rocco Schallplatten Hamburg Gänsemarkt Hamburg (really miss them) late ‘80s into ‘90s 🪩Container Records Reeperbahn Hamburg 1992-2003 Picture credits: Christian Werner, 2022 https://christianwerner.org/hard-wax-2022/#undefined Theclubmap.com @theclubmap #hardwax #housedance #deephouse #90housemusic #vinyl #vinyllove #realdjs #house #berlinclubs #itsasoulthing #containerrecordshamburg #roccoschallplatten #house #vinyl by @ocd.housemusic
Learning from the legends.🪩✨ Three months in New York and already missing Amsterdam… but this city is a candy shop for dancers. So many classes, every style — and honestly very intimidating with all the insanely talented and skilled people here. Waacking with Tyrone Bevans at Peridance has been my absolute highlight: magazine poses, musicality training, real foundations. And absolute beginner vogueing with José Lapaz-Rodriguez at Alvin Ailey was so much fun. New York is impressive. My knee says: take a breath and rest. Beginner Waacking — Tyrone Bevans Saturdays from 3-4.30pm @peridancecenter 126 E 13th St, New York, NY 10003 Absolute Beginner Vogueing — José Lapaz-Rodriguez @alvinailey The Ailey Studios 405 W 55th St, New York, NY 10019 #waacking #vogueing #nycdance #peridance #alvinailey #beginner #vouguefemme #deephouse #newyorkdancers #femmequeen #bitchface by @ocd.housemusic
