Tilda’s back at Offbeat!

Two cracking sessions with Tilda Swinton at the studio: a film commentary with a producer down the line in Singapore, followed by a WaterAid session via Source-Connect with a studio in London.

Tonight is the opening of her sold-out one-woman show, Man to Man, at the Traverse. Looking forward to seeing it with Kirsty. What a week! by @offbeatrecordingstudio

Under Fire by Humza Yousaf, former First Minister of Scotland

Some audiobooks are particularly memorable to record. This was one of them.

Humza Yousaf’s Under Fire: My Family’s Escape from Gaza and The Cost of Leadership is a deeply personal account of his in-laws’ experience trying to escape Gaza, set alongside his own experience of dealing with an extraordinary collision of family, politics and public responsibility.

There were moments during the recording that affected all of us in the studio very deeply. It is an incredibly powerful and, at times, heartbreaking story, but ultimately one that is also about family, humanity and resilience.

Whatever your political views, we hope this is a story that encourages people to listen, reflect and remember the human beings behind the headlines.

It was a privilege for Offbeat Audio to be involved in bringing this important story to life.

Under Fire is published by Little, Brown Book Group, with the audiobook released by Little, Brown Audio on 1 October 2026.

“It must be our collective duty to ensure that people are not made to suffer for the crimes of others.
That the innocent are protected.
That every life is equal and sacred.
And to hold to account those who violate, so egregiously, the sanctity of life.
And, until that time comes, I, for one, do not intend to be silent.”

The Siege / Channel 4 ADR session at Offbeat

Blown away to be involved in this phenomenal 6 episode channel 4 series about the Iranian hostage crisis. I recorded ADR for the first 3 episodes with Alexej Manvenov with more to follow.

Surprisingly it stars Danny Dyer as well as David Morrissey and Mark Bonnar

‘Six armed Arab Iranian separatists stormed the Iranian embassy in London, taking 26 hostages and demanding autonomy. During six days of tension, gunmen, hostages and police battled for control as SAS soldiers prepared a rescue mission’. by @offbeatrecordingstudio

The Madame Blanc Mysteries
for Channel 5 - ADR

More great ADR sessions at the studio dubbing Award winning Canadian born Alex Gaumond. Directed over Zoom by from London by producer Tushar Manek and contributors from Ireland. There were just some occasional lines to record here for series 5 of The Madam Blanc Mysteries at Offbeat but setting up for these kinds of sessions in advance can involve more work than the actual recordings themselves. In this case there were five episodes of the current series to do so getting everything in sync and setting up cues to the supplied scripts so that everything goes smoothly when the talent turns up and everyone is online, is where most of the work is done. Once that was achieved Alex sailed through the script lines and everyone was happy with the results.

Alex Gaumond is a highly versatile Canadian actor, singer, and filmmaker. Derry Girls (Channel 4) Starred as Emmett Forrest, earning a prestigious Olivier Award nomination for Best Actor in a Musical.Matilda the Musical (Cambridge Theatre) – Portrayed the iconic, villainous Miss Trunchbull. We Will Rock You (Dominion Theatre) – Played the lead role of Galileo Figaro.Company (Gielgud Theatre) – Played Paul in Marianne Elliott’s acclaimed gender-swapped revival.🎬 Filmmaking & WritingIn addition to acting, Gaumond is an active screenwriter and producer.

Have finished recording the audiobook version of my book, Under Fire, which is dedicated to Nadia's gran, Jiddah Hasna, who was twice made a refugee, and to the millions of Palestinians never allowed to return home.

You can pre-order the book using the link in my bio.

The New Yorker Magazine Podcast

Critics at Large

Recorded a fascinating podcast today with Emily Nussbaum on the subject of the Canadian TV series ‘Slings and Arrows’ with an interviewer on Zoom from New York. Emily, a Pulitzer prize winning critic, reviews it as a cult classic and her favourite series of all time. All three series are available to stream on YouTube.

Done so many amazing sessions during this first week of the Fringe. More to follow! by @offbeatrecordingstudio

Nicola Sturgeon was back at Offbeat recently recording a new preface for the paperback edition of her memoir, Frankly, for Macmillan. Great to welcome her back to the studio after recording the full unabridged audiobook last year.

Following recent events, the preface sees her address her ex-husband Peter Murrell’s fraud conviction directly, giving her own account and reflecting on her new direction since stepping back from Scottish politics.

Produced and directed by Iain McKinna at Offbeat Audio.

This is a personal and difficult chapter for anyone to speak about publicly, please keep comments respectful. by @offbeatrecordingstudio

Three Brothers in a Boat

Three brothers. One boat. 139 days. A world record row across the Pacific from Peru to Australia, and a storm that nearly cost them everything.
We’re beyond proud to have been commissioned by Canongate to produce and direct the audiobook of Three Brothers in a Boat. Jamie, Lachlan and Ewan Maclean’s own account of the crossing that broke a world record, and the night one of them went overboard mid Pacific.
Their parents feature too, with their own reflections recorded alongside the brothers’ logs, plus an Afterword by Alexander McCall Smith.
Three narrators, one control room, one hell of a story. Recording starts soon at the studio.
