An icy walk at Volcan Mountain.

#hike #walk #snow by @officialworldtradecenter

Last summer, for weeks I was consumed by the idea that an Instagram section (lol) full of tope sharks existed some 15 to 30ft deep in the Matlahuayl State Marine Reserve, a quarter to half mile off shore

I kept doing breath work and swimming around, familiarizing myself with kelp landmarks, equalizing through descents frequently. I crossed parts off of a map until I could find these sharks. Even if i had no luck, I observed a lot of other interesting wildlife along the way

Sometimes it's the memory of the experience, sometimes it's the photographs I took that spark an interest for me to return to some thing, some place, some activity I enjoyed. And that's just how it is for me I guess. Or let's be real, the idea that it will get attention online or that one can talk about it drives our behaviors. Any way

Every session went just outside of my comfort zone. I was always uncomfortable to some degree, especially at night, in the cold blackness

I wish I dove deeper and longer, but the thermocline and the eyes of the sharks at depth spooked me the most. Eventually the interest faded and I knew I would revisit the experience again another summer by @officialworldtradecenter
