675km of Central Arnhem Road done and dusted. Literally! We’ve spent the past couple of days making our way across to Nhulunbuy and we’re finally here, ready to kick off our East Arnhem Land adventures! 🙌🏼 The Central Arnhem Road is one of those roads that can be completely different every time you drive it. It’s 675km from the Stuart Highway turnoff to Nhulunbuy, with most of it unsealed, and Mainoru is the main stop along the way, about 196km in. Conditions change constantly depending on the wet season, rain, flooding, traffic and how much work has been done on the road since you were last through. We got rained on this time! So the dust turned to mud, then back to dust 😅 There was also a heap of roadworks happening, with sections being widened, but there was still plenty of dust, corrugations and some BIG patches of bulldust to keep things interesting. Now we’re in Nhulunbuy and ready to start exploring East Arnhem Land properly. This is the part we’ve been looking forward to 😁 by @offroad_creative
This has been YEARS in the making 🙌🏼 We started with a rooftop tent and always wanted a boat up top too. Then we finally got the boat… and realised how much we missed having the tent 🤪 After a LOT of thinking, measuring and trying to figure out how we could possibly have both, Chris and the team at @offroad_creative finally made it happen. Now we’ve got the rooftop tent AND the boat up there, giving us the best of both worlds when we leave the caravan behind and head off exploring. And that’s only one part of what’s gone into this truck! The full rundown shows exactly how the whole setup has come together, what we’ve changed, what we’ve added and how it all works. It’s LIVE! 📺😁 The full LIV BIG 3 walkthrough is finally up, and if you’ve been wanting to see exactly what went into this build, this is the one to watch! This is our fourth American touring truck build (all Chevys), and every time we start again we ask ourselves the same question… how can we make the next one even better and even more functional for the way we travel? Somehow, we managed to squeeze even more into this one, including BOTH the rooftop tent and the tinny on the roof along with everything else we need in a full time touring truck. But, we’ve also simplified things. Built by the teams at @big.dog.builds and @offroad_creative , this truck was a mammoth team effort with a lot of thinking, designing and problem solving behind the scenes. In the video we walk through the entire truck, every major component, why it’s there, what it does and how we’ll actually use it while travelling. Link in bio 🙌🏼 by @offroad_creative

It’s crazy the places you can stumble across without even looking for them right!! We came across this massive wide open bitumised area literally in the middle of nowhere and once again in true Wheatland Wanderers style, we’ve somehow managed to stumble across another little slice of heaven and have the whole bloody place to ourselves 😝 Getting the van up the track was a bit tight though. The bush had got a little overgrown so there was a bit of rubbing and a tiny bit of trimming on a few of the nasty branches but we got the van in. So for everyone who tells us, “You won’t get that American truck and a 23 foot van into tight places” well we reckon we’ve proved that one wrong a few times now. Honestly there isn’t one place we’ve wanted to get our setup into that we haven’t been able to. Sometimes it’s a bit tight, sometimes there’s a bit of bush to deal with but that’s all part of it. And when you get in and realise you’ve got a place like this all to yourselves it’s so fricken dam awesome. #caravantravel #offroadcaravan #australianoutback #campinglife #seekandexplore by @offroad_creative
