WELCOME TO ASH!
Some worlds deserve another chapter.

A few years ago, with my incredible cast and crew, I made a supernatural drama called A Song From the Dark @asongfromthedarkmovie It went on to win several awards and was later acquired by Amazon Prime Video.

Ever since, I've wanted to expand the universe I created to tell bigger stories, introduce new characters, and push the supernatural mythology even further.

Through my Creator Partnerships with @dreamina_ai and @klingai_official , and using various generative AI tools, I've been able to explore what that next chapter could look like.

This is ASH. This first chapter is a glimpse of what this universe could become.

I'll also be using these partnerships to explore other original IPs and experiment with new ways of bringing stories to life alongside my broader filmmaking work.

If you'd like to see more from this world, please share this post. And, as always, I'd love to hear what you think. Alt Link in bio.

Tools used - Seedance 2.0, Kling 3.0, NanoBanana, Suno, Eleven Labs.

Over the years, I’ve worked with a few charities, creating short films to help share their messages, tell their stories, and hopefully raise funds for their incredible causes.
One of those charities is The Wickers Charity @thewickerscharity in Hackney, home to a group of amazing young people with truly inspiring stories. And one of these young people is a very impressive guy called Jonathan. Kicked out of school at the age of 11, became a gang member and then fast forward to age 23, he is now a deputy head at a school, advising the police on knife crime prevention, and above all, inspiring and helping to change the lives of countless young people across Hackney.
We NEEDED to share his story and the work Wickers is doing. The original goal was to do a simple piece to camera, but as we listened to him speak, we thought: why not visualise his words through moving image and see how we can re-enact some of his memories at scale.
We spent almost two hours recording his story over Zoom and a few weeks later, using various A.I. tools alongside footage from his boxing session, we crafted and edited a short film that brought Jonathan's amazing story to life. There's more to his story and I believe there's potential for his story to become a feature length movie.

There has been consistent backlash around the use of AI in filmmaking, and I understand why. But there are also so many powerful stories out there that deserve to be told. by @ogodinife

It's ABFF MONDAY! 30 years and counting!

Damn, it's been a couple of years already!! Throw back to 2023 when our film @asongfromthedarkmovie bagged us two major awards at the biggest black film festival in the world @americanblackfilmfestival

Winning Best Director at ABFF in 2023 and seeing our talented lead actress @vvbrownskin take home Best Actor was surreal and special to us. It opened doors, created meaningful connections, and introduced our work to a powerful community of storytellers, execs, collaborators, and champions of Black cinema, paving the way for exciting projects ahead.

ABFF is more than a festival, it’s a meeting point for vision, opportunity, and lifelong creative relationships.

Congratulations on 30 years of amplifying Black voices and stories. Jeff @jefffriday Nicole and the whole Nice Crowd Team @nicecrowdevents are cooking! Here’s to many more! Can't wait to reconnect this MAY!
