When foundations are set, anything is possible. 🩰 Strong foundational habits in ballet can open doors far beyond the studio. Over the years, our students have gone on to attend prestigious schools and colleges and dance with companies across the country. But exceptional training isn’t only for students pursuing a professional career. At Ohman School of Ballet, we believe that every student deserves a strong foundation, whether they dance for the joy of movement, personal growth, or with professional aspirations. With our mission rooted in education, we couldn’t imagine offering anything less. Under the direction of Executive Artistic Director Nicole Loizides, students ages 8 through pre-professional are offered age-appropriate cross-training as an integral part of their ballet education. The goal is to develop a more well-rounded approach to dance artistry while supporting strength, body awareness, and injury prevention. Our curriculum incorporates Pilates, strength training, conditioning, yoga, Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT), floor barre, foam rolling, and self-massage—tools that help young dancers better understand and care for their bodies as they grow. Because good training is about more than learning steps. It’s about building a foundation that allows each dancer to discover what is possible. ✨ • • • #ohmanschoolofballet #crosstrainingfordancers #injurypreventionfordancers #ballet #balletschool by @ohmanschool

Watch. Listen. Learn. Repeat. 🩰 And then… collapse. 😂 The ballet foundation is one of the slowest and most important parts of becoming an artist. Every plié, tendu, correction, repetition and “one more time” builds strength, coordination, musicality, discipline and understanding. You can’t rush a foundation. And you can’t expect every artist to learn in exactly the same way. We teach work ethic from a young age, while also making room for laughter, teamwork, individuality and joy. Because learning ballet should be hard work , but it should also be fun. ❤️ The foundation takes time. The artistry grows from there. October 3rd 1pm ✨Align for Alana✨ In honor of our dear Alana G. Papa, we are grateful to share Align for Alana—a special afternoon of movement, wellness, and giving in her memory. Alana was a longtime student of the Ohman School of Ballet and a dancer with New York Dance Theatre. She approached life with discipline, grace, and unwavering commitment, and her spirit continues to inspire all of us who were fortunate enough to know her. Thank you, Lana @lanaengelhartyoga , for leading this beautiful event in Alana’s name, and to Simplicity Yoga Studio for opening your space and your hearts. Lana will lead a special vinyasa yoga class on Saturday, October 3 at 1 PM in Kings Park, with the class offered by donation to benefit the Alana G. Papa Foundation and its mission to support mentorship, health, and well-being for young people. For the Ohman School of Ballet and New York Dance Theatre, Alana will always be part of our family. Her legacy lives on through movement, through wellness, through the young people whose lives we touch—and through every person who carries her memory forward. For those who’d like to donate directly to the Alana G. Papa Endowment please visit the links in our bio. ⬆️ by @ohmanschool

✨ WELCOME TO OSB, ALLISON!✨ We are so happy to welcome @asinisgalli20 to the Ohman School of Ballet faculty, where she will be working with our Lower Division students helping to build the strong foundation that supports a dancer’s journey. Allison began her classical training through the Royal Academy of Dance and earned her B.F.A. in Dance from Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts. Her extensive dance background includes training with master teachers connected to Martha Graham, José Limón, Paul Taylor, Merce Cunningham, Alvin Ailey, Princeton Ballet, David Howard, and Sean Lavery. As a performer and educator, Allison has worked throughout New York City and the Northeast, performing at venues including City Center and The Joyce Theater while also bringing years of experience in dance education, choreography, administration, and working with young dancers. Beyond her impressive dance background, Allison brings a wonderful understanding of early childhood education, movement, fitness, and the developing dancer- a combination we know will be a meaningful fit into our comprehensive program. At the heart of Allison’s teaching is her belief that dance should be joyful and that every dancer has the ability to grow through commitment, curiosity, and strong technique. We’re delighted to have her sharing her experience, energy, and love of dance with our students. We’re so happy to have you as part of our faculty and Ohman family. #OhmanSchoolOfBallet #BalletEducation #DanceEducation #Ballet #longislandartists by @ohmanschool
