When we thought of why we wanted to celebrate and host this event we named wanting to celebrate and and recognize 10 years of work and vision-building, wanting to come together so that the ecosystem could see itself as an ecosystem, and wanting to center and honor those who have dedicated time, creativity, energy, community, sweat, tears, and labor to liberation. OHRD Co-founder Dr. Yolande Tomlinson @zrose1927 initiated the idea of the Liberation Veteran Awards and we were proud to present 10 Liberation Veteran Awards for our 10th anniversary!

Some beautiful moments were created and some beautiful moments were shared last month. We are thankful to have gathered in celebration of OHRD’s ten year anniversary! At Rasanblaj, we gathered with some of our ecosystem’s founders, our imaginative collaborators, and our courageous and dedicated community members in honoring the people in and throughout the OHRD ecosystem, and to gather around care, rest, and restoration. This event was co-created with Lakou Learning as they debut their co-op and with MAMA Fund as they celebrate six years!

This year, as we celebrate OHRD’s decade of radical cooperative work and Lakou Learning & Liberation co-op’s introduction to the ecosystem, we gather in the spirit of rasanblaj—a Haitian term encompassing a Pan-Caribbean decolonial act of assembling ourselves (back) together. We gather to remember that liberation is a constant and collective practice, that can be rooted in jwi/joy, and we do this until we are all free. Please join us for a daytime healing portal, mark your calendars! 🌸🌸🌸
