Daniel's birthday took us inside Andretti Karting in OKC. 🏎️ We found an electric-karting entrance, a massive arcade floor, bowling, 7D, food and plenty of room to make a whole night of it. Caila's brother picked a birthday spot where everybody could find something to do.

What are you trying first: racing, arcade games or bowling?

Pizza-and-games night at Sauced on Paseo: slices first, then a look around the free-play arcade, the Simpsons cabinet, and the rest of this wonderfully odd OKC pizza spot. These are twelve new photos from our latest visit, separate from the earlier Sauced article. Which game are you playing after dinner?

Pizza by the slice. Free-play arcade after. 🍕🎮

Sauced on Paseo in Oklahoma City is the kind of place where you plan to eat and then notice you have been hanging around the games for a while. We grabbed slices, checked out the patio and bar, and made our way into the all-ages vintage arcade. Yes, the Simpsons cabinet is still the one that gets me.

This is a fresh visit and photo set, separate from my older Sauced story. Find it at 2912 Paseo in OKC. What game are you playing first?

Eight real photos from our stop at Kool Cafe and Just Burgers on NE 23rd in OKC. Swipe from the red roadside buildings to the treat boards and finally the cherry-lemon pop, Nutella treat, and cookie ice-cream sandwich we chose. That much choice brought back the exact feeling of standing at the ice-cream truck after school. @okjustburgers, what burger should we try next?

Burgers on the left. Ice cream on the right. Whoever set this up knew what they were doing. 🍔🍦

Kool Cafe sits beside Just Burgers on NE 23rd in OKC. The snow cones, milkshakes, sundaes, and frozen candy bars gave me serious after-school ice-cream-truck indecision. We finally picked a cherry-lemon pop, a Nutella treat, and a cookie ice-cream sandwich. Madeline and Reagan got sweets too.

@okjustburgers, I still need to try the burger side. What should I order next time?

Bricktown Brewery hits different at the original downtown OKC spot.

We stopped into @bricktownbrewery in Bricktown and covered the table pretty well: Roast Beef French Dip with au jus, a loaded combination-style pizza, chicken pot pie, kids’ mac and cheese, and an appetizer sampler that disappeared the way appetizer samplers tend to do.

The part I like about this location is the setting. Brick walls, old industrial bones, brewery equipment, and the fact that this all started in Bricktown back in 1992 inside an old candy factory.

Not exactly a light lunch, but a good Bricktown stop if you’re already downtown for a game, concert, canal walk, or just trying to feed a group without turning dinner into a negotiation.

Bricktown traded the dinner crowd for candy buckets Sunday.

Brick-or-Treat had @Bricktown looking a lot different than usual, with costumed kids moving business to business, maps in hand, working through more than 40 candy stops across the district.

Mickey Mantle Plaza outside the ballpark felt like the checkpoint, and then the rest of Bricktown turned into the route. Spider-Man, Bluey, Ghostbusters, DJ Reaper, photo spots, closed streets on parts of Sheridan and Reno, the whole thing had more of a neighborhood Halloween party feel than a standard trunk-or-treat.

That’s what I liked about it. Bricktown already gives you plenty to look at, then you add candy buckets and costumes into the mix and suddenly it feels like a completely different OKC afternoon.

Kids collecting candy beside antique fire trucks is a solid Halloween setup.

The Oklahoma State Firefighters Museum in OKC is turning Halloween week into a Candy Passport scavenger hunt, Oct. 27-31. Kids work through eight stops, collect stamps, grab candy, then bring the finished passport back for a little ghost toy.

What I like is that they’re not just walking past a candy table. They’re moving through old fire trucks, uniforms, equipment and Oklahoma firefighting history while dressed like witches, superheroes or tiny firefighters.

It’s in the Adventure District on NE 50th, and on Halloween, costumed kids and adults get in free. That is one of the few times an inflatable dinosaur suit counts as a budget decision.
