“Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life”
In a season of wait, our character, sense of self and belief is stretched, bent, and twisted as that which will hope for is delayed, we see the man bend more and more as the painting progressed, wasn’t an idea I planned initially, but it really came from how intensely my impatience grew, I hate to wait, but I have to wait, we all have to. by @olajide_works

This piece helped me confess something I never quite had the courage to say out loud, and that didn’t automatically fix everything, but it killed every limiting comfort that secrecy provided, and that is so liberating! by @olajide_works

#oilpainting #fineart #artist #contemporayart by @olajide_works

These paintings I dare say are an opening act to me finally finding myself one place at a time. There’s a constant race we are always running and we never really quite have the luxury to pause and check our hearts.
I hope you pause and check your heart posture today.

I’d be having a solo preview of these paintings at @o.da_art today, unfortunately it’s a private viewing so it’s not open to the public. But I’m grateful for the opportunity and to @nchedo.co for their platform! by @olajide_works

Study of a Man.
29.7cm X 42cm
Oil on Canvas Paper

This was the first painting I made at my first week at @nchedo.co residency, it was one of those images you feel details kinda ruined, I preferred it when it was unfinished, it felt more like the state of a man as well, unfinished, unresolved, an unpredictable end.
But I still think it came out okay in the end, it was the beginning of me learning to trust my gut when painting, I am still learning to trust my gut.

Unresolved, unpredictable, limitless, a man. by @olajide_works

After sitting on it for sometime, I have decided to document my experience and speak verbally about my practice, I hope this opens up a space for real conversations and shared experiences.
Welcome, once again. by @olajide_works
