POSTS STORIES REELS

You can say our hearts skipped a beat when we learned that OM was recognized by @baltimorebeat (Baltimore Beat) in its new 2025 “Best of Baltimore” issue for “Best Book Programming”! 💗 We are deeply appreciative of the good people at Baltimore Beat for not only such a meaningful honor but for writing a piece that captured many details and nuances about OM and its location and history! 👏

We love books, literature, readers and writers at OM. In 2018, we first introduced author talks, poetry readings and open mics and we have expanded to include book clubs, writer meetups and even book retail📚There is something extra special about having guests visit your Pigtown corner bar for literature 🥰

Thank you to the team at Baltimore Beat for seeing us and recognizing us for doing what we love! 🙏 And special thanks to @shae.mccoy.photos 📸

And we want to shout out OM’s original guest AND book reader, @junenaiki (June), who lives around the corner and has faithfully carried a book with him to our #ScareyStreet bar for nearly 8 years ☺️

To all Baltimore-area book lovers and writers, you have a home here in Southwest Baltimore, and we would be delighted to have you over! If you are seeking a space for your own book club or reading, send us a note at team@oldmajorbaltimore.com 👋

OM’s 8th Annual Boo-Bee Spelling Bee and Costume Contest fundraiser was pure Halloween joy 🎃🐝 We consider The Boo-Bee to be one of our most important events, and we hold it in recognition of October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month and to raise funds for breast cancer patients at the University of Maryland Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center 🏥 OM truly has the BEST guests and supporters, and their presence made us feel like winners all night 🥰

However, there are actual Boo-Bee winners! We are thrilled to announce @simplyricah as the 8th Annual Boo-Bee Spelling Bee winner! Ricah is our lovely neighbor on Glyndon Ave, over here on the west end of Pigtown 🙌 She triumphed through several rounds of progressively challenging words to pull off the night’s victory! Also, @kenzie_pallante won best costume—she dazzled as Marie Antoinette! Congratulations to both of them 🥇🏆👏

Thank you to all guests and attendees for giving us a festive, feel-good night and supporting an event that matters to us 🙏 Whether you came for The Boo-Bee, wandered in for drinks or dinner, or got us to turn on the WNBA championship game 🏀, we had a blast with you ♥️

🎀 The sad reality is that we all likely know someone who has been diagnosed with breast cancer 👉 If you would like to learn more about the UMD Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center and perhaps make a donation of your own, visit https://tinyurl.com/4akj2427 🎀
