Fake or overheated honey can look perfect. Active Honey Test shows if your honey is still active.
At home. No lab. ↓

POSTS STORIES REELS

Your honey may be dead. You just don’t know it yet.

Fake or overheated honey can look completely normal. “Raw”, “Natural”, “Organic”, “Premium”… none of these words prove what is actually inside the jar.

The Active Honey Test lets you check your honey yourself, at home, without a laboratory.

Don’t trust the label. Test the honey.

Most people buy honey because they’ve heard it’s healthier than sugar.

But what makes raw honey unique isn’t just its sweetness.

It’s the biology inside it.

Honeybees add enzymes to nectar as they transform it into honey. One of those enzymes, glucose oxidase, helps create hydrogen peroxide when honey comes into contact with moisture, contributing to many of the natural properties that make raw honey so fascinating.

Along with naturally occurring antioxidants, plant compounds, organic acids, and trace nutrients, these components are part of what sets raw honey apart from highly processed honey products.

Excessive heating and heavy processing can reduce some of this natural biological activity, which is why many beekeepers choose to keep their honey raw, gently handled, and minimally filtered.

The enzyme test shown here measures one piece of that biological activity.

White strip: little to no detectable enzyme activity.

Dark blue: active enzyme activity still present.

It’s a simple reminder that not every jar of honey is the same.

If you’re choosing honey because you value the remarkable work of the bees, look beyond the label and ask how it was harvested, handled, and processed.

Our High Uinta Raw Honey is never overheated and is carefully handled from hive to jar to preserve as much of its natural character as possible.

Because we believe the less we change what the bees create, the better.

Got to do a very cool enzyme test on our honey vs our local super market honeys today.
The two local super market honeys we compared were less than 10% Australian honey on the label🍯🍯
Thank you @olexalab for the test kit!
This test kit is a great way to see if the honey you are buying is alive and has active enzimes in it!!

Active enzymes honey test from @olexalab 🍯🧪

Our honey is raw and unpasteurised, meaning the naturally occuring enzymes and their associated health benefits remain intact.

Supermarket honeys are typically heated to keep the honey runny, but this heating destroys the enzymes. This turns honey from a superfood into a basic sweetener.

Is the honey you’re buying from the store actual RAW honey?

We put it to the test 👏🏻 and partnered with @olexalab. They sent us ACTIVE HONEY TEST STRIPS to show if the tested honey has been preserved with the health-related properties YOU buy honey for.

🐝 when honey is mixed with water, the bee enzyme glucose oxidase becomes active. It begins producing hydrogen peroxide, one of the key, natural antibacterial factors in honey.

🚫 if this activity is absent or weekend, it may mean that the honey has been processed, overheated or has lost part of its natural properties.

A “raw honey“ label on a jar does not guarantee that honey has preserved its natural activity.

But local. Buy RAW. Support small. by @olexalab

RAW HONEY TEST!! 🍯🐝

Is your honey actually “organic” or “raw” or “active”?? Has it been over processed? Is it just a sweet honey flavored syrup? Use this test from @olexalab to find out!

✨Cool fact- CRYSTALLIZED HONEY can STILL be ACTIVE and this test will work on it! ✨

Real honey isn’t cheap, and cheap honey isn’t real.
I used an OlexaLab kit that was sent to me to test popular supermarket honey against my own, and the results proved this saying exactly right.
The OlexaLab test measures glucose oxidase—the active bee enzyme that gives honey its natural antibacterial power. While my honey lit up the test strip, the cheap store-bought jar showed zero activity.
High heat and industrial processing strip away everything that makes honey good for you, leaving you with nothing but expensive sugar syrup.

Проверка меда на качество с помощью Active Honey Test показывает как из мёда и воды можно получить перекись водорода, для нас это был очень интересный эксперимент, очень надеюсь что вам тоже понравится #казахстан🇰🇿

Bees in Space: 3,300 Honeybees Aboard Challenger

In 1984, five astronauts carried an unusual student experiment aboard Space Shuttle Challenger. The bees had to adapt to a world with no familiar up or down.

What happened next surprised researchers.

A real NASA experiment from mission STS-41C.

Malta: Are Native Bees Different?

At a local apiary in Malta, we learned that imported European bee colonies died after Varroa infestation, while the native Maltese bees survived.

The Maltese honey bee is smaller, darker, and well adapted to the island’s dry climate. We also saw dead mites that the bees had removed from the hive themselves.

Could Malta’s native bees be naturally more resistant to Varroa?

Malta: Is This Honey Still Alive?

We tested two honey samples from a local beekeeper and compared them with mass-produced supermarket honey.

Both beekeeper samples turned blue, showing that active enzymes were detected. The supermarket honey showed no change.

The supermarket honey is not necessarily fake, but processing may have destroyed its enzyme activity. It may still be genuine honey, but biologically, it is dead.

Which honey would you choose?
