🌞As we approach the hottest time of the year, when the sun is at its highest, we are creating container to retreat to the underwaters. We turn to the element of water for support--and to the portal that is the body. We will explore what feels dry, tight, and stuck and needing the the flow of water. This is an offering to connect with spirit, self and community, to practice a with embodied listening. We will explore somatic practices such as dance and movement; as guided meditation, art and ritual 🌊

#repost @mysticsalma 🇸🇩 Day 20 of telecom blackout continuing across the majority of Sudan.

🇸🇩 Day 310 of War between the Sudanese Army (SAF) and the Janjaweed militia (RSF) that have been wreaking HAVOC on SUDANESE CIVILIANS across all ethnicities and reigons. We are one people fighting against two evils. 🎭

The demands of the 2019 Sudanese Revolution remain: FREEDOM, JUSTICE, PEACE. 💙💛💚

I don’t believe in coincidences. This era of humanity is marked with such great turmoil but also with such growing awareness, understanding and compassion. Let’s combine our efforts and share our stories and perspectives. Sudan is in my blood, the home I only got to visit growing up but was so deeply instilled in me by my mother 🩷, family and Sudanese community. Nothing about me makes sense if I ignore my heritage/culture in my attempts of fitting in whether it was in Saudi 🇸🇦, Canada 🇨🇦 or the United States 🇺🇸.

I am East African through and through, Sudanese 🇸🇩 AND Ethiopian 🇪🇹. I’m ashamed of not having owned it more before. I won’t stay silent on Sudan. I won’t stay silent on Tigray. IT IS NEVER TOO LATE.

The statistics are impossible for any human brain 🧠 to comprehend, so maybe this will help connect it to your heart space 💚: every number 1 is YOU born in another body, in another circumstance. That’s it.
🇸🇩 15k+ killed.
🇸🇩 33k+ injured.
🇸🇩 10M+ displaced.
🇸🇩 25M in need of humanitarian assistance.
🇸🇩 3.5M children suffer from acute malnutrition.
🇸🇩 19M children left without education.
🇸🇩 4M+ women and girls at risk of sexual violence.

Thank you for reading, opening your heart and wanting to help, summary of what you can do:

Hello all!

Join us in the new year, to explore and express yourself using expressive arts as a container and invitation!

We will tune into our inner and outer landscapes, connecting with the Season and the Elements. The invitation is to give yourself permission and space to fully embody your authentic self.

Our time will include:

❄️ Guided meditation

❄️ somatic movement exploration

❄️ Creative forming

❄️ Integration/sharing

About facilitators:

Olivea (Ollie):(they/them)

I am a Registered Somatic Movement therapist and queer witchy-fairy. My joy is to co-create spaces that help folks connect more deeply to their bodies and sensation of Self, as well as finding authentic connection in community. I love using the arts as a pathway and portal for healing and transformation.

Lydia is a professor of Sustainability Studies at the University of Massachusetts and Suffolk University who integrates the ‘inner landscape’ and ‘outer landscape’ through earth-based spirituality and Kundalini embodiment practices. She facilitates the awakening of kundalini energies through sacred embodiment and somatic practices. These Kundalini energies clear and strengthen the physical, emotional and energetic bodies, freeing up the energy channels for greater vitality, creativity and intuitive knowing.

Lydia holds a Master’s in Education and a B.A. in Dance Education.

Sliding scale: please consider your financial situation and access to wealth
Energy Exchange: $22-44

Please message me to register. We will let you know the address once you’ve registered. It is at Lydia’s private residence in Westport, Mass. about 30 min from providence.

Hope to move with you in the new year! <3 by @olibees
