🧪 A question that popped up on social media recently:

What’s actually better for cleaning glass tips?
Isopropyl Alcohol, Ethanol, or using both?

Instead of guessing, I decided to test it myself.

For this comparison, I used daily-used glass tips with everything from light residue to heavy buildup.

Test setup:
🔹 10 glass tips soaked in Isopropyl Alcohol
🔹 10 glass tips soaked in Ethanol

Both groups were cleaned in an ultrasonic cleaner for:
✔️ 2 cycles
✔️ 960 seconds each

After cleaning, all tips were wiped with a microfiber cloth and inspected.

Results 👇

Isopropyl Alcohol
✅ Stronger cleaning power
✅ Breaks down stubborn residue faster
✅ Better at loosening heavy buildup in the ultrasonic bath

❌ Can leave visible residue after evaporation
❌ Often benefits from a final wipe or polish

Ethanol
✅ Evaporates much cleaner
✅ Leaves little to no residue behind
✅ Glass looks cleaner straight after drying

❌ Doesn’t dissolve heavy buildup as effectively as Isopropyl Alcohol

🏆 My takeaway:

For the best overall result, use both.

1️⃣ Start with Isopropyl Alcohol in the ultrasonic cleaner to do the heavy lifting.

2️⃣ Wipe the tip with a microfiber cloth.

3️⃣ Give it a quick dip in Ethanol.

4️⃣ Let it air dry.

✔️ Clean glass.
✔️ No polishing.
✔️ Minimal residue.

Simple, effective, and repeatable.

Have you tested Isopropyl vs. Ethanol?

I’m always more than delighted — and honestly amazed — by how diverse the world of glass art is. ✨
Every artist has their own unique signature, often instantly recognizable to those who know. 🔍
Compared to the first series we received from Brad, this is a completely different style — yet still unmistakably Brad. 💎

These UV effects are absolutely insane! 💥
There’s even a kind of chameleon piece — under normal light it’s a beautiful clear tip with black stripes, but under UV light it shifts into vibrant blue and red tones. 🌈🦎
And as a little bonus: three breathtaking packers! 😍

@bradbglass , I just want to express my gratitude to you as well — what you’ve created is simply amazing. 🙏💫
Thank you so, so much! 💖

Made in the USA at @oasis_flameworks Studio. Let’s show some love for the great work.
