POSTS STORIES REELS

We decide what’s on our plates. We decide what we buy. And when we choose local, we’re choosing Canada—our farmers, our communities, and our future. It starts with simple choices every time we shop, eat, and support local businesses.

👀Look for the Label
When you’re at the store, check for the Ontario Pork checkmark label or look for mentions of Sofina (Burlington) or Conestoga Meats (Kitchener-area)—Ontario’s federally regulated processors that handle Ontario-raised pork.

Many provincial processors also offer fantastic local pork products across Ontario. See the Ontario stamp below.

You can also spot Canadian pork by looking for the Verified Canadian Pork label or the Canada stamp. Other provinces may have different labels, so if you’re unsure—ask!

💬Ask Your Grocer

If you don’t see Ontario or Canadian pork, ask for it. Let stores know there’s demand for local food. The more we ask, the more they’ll stock.

🛒Buy Direct

Support Ontario’s farmers by shopping at:
✅Local butchers
✅Farmers’ markets
✅Farmgate sales (buying directly from farms)

This is about standing up for Canadian farmers. It’s about keeping our food system strong, our economy growing, and our communities thriving.

We make our own food choices.

Buy Ontario. Support Ontario. Stand with Canada.

One of my fav post-workout dinners that basically cooks itself: honey mustard @ontariopork pork tenderloin with roasted potatoes & veggies 🍯🥦✨ #Ad #OntarioPork

Full recipe👇

Ingredients:

1 Ontario pork tenderloin
1/4 cup honey
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp yellow mustard
Handful of mini potatoes, halved
Vegetables (I used 1 head of broccoli and 1 red pepper, chopped)
Olive oil, salt + pepper

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, cider vinegar, mustard, and honey. Add salt and pepper to taste. Coat the pork tenderloin in the sauce.
Toss potatoes and veggies with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Spread on a foil-lined baking sheet.
Place pork on a shallow foil-lined pan (or on the same sheet if it fits). Roast for 20–25 minutes, until pork reaches an internal temperature of 155–160°F.
Let the pork rest for 5 minutes, then slice and serve with roasted potatoes and veggies.
Optional: add a dollop of cottage cheese and any leftover honey mustard sauce. by @ontariopork

RED WINE BRAISED PORK SHOULDER. Recipe below!! Truly the easiest yet most delicious braise recipe. It’s all about good quality @ontariopork and a perfectly seasoned gravy. Enjoy❤️‍🔥

3 lbs Ontario Pork Shoulder, cut into 2” cubes
2 large onions, peeled and roughly sliced
6 cloves garlic, peeled and cut in half
1 bottle of dry red wine
Fine kosher salt
2 tbsp butter, room temperature
2 tbsp flour
Red wine vinegar

Preheat oven to 325 f. Place an oven/stovetop safe braising dish over high heat until extremely hot. Generously salt pork cubes. Add 1 tbsp of veg oil to the hot pan and place pork in an even layer. Sear without moving for 1 minute. Flip pork and repeat. Do in batches, do not overcrowd the pan or you will not get a nice sear!

Reduce to low, add onion/garlic to pan with pork. Add the bottle of red wine, the meat should be at least ¾ submerged. Cover with a tight-fitting lid or tin foil and braise for 2.5 hours. Transfer pork dish to the fridge (if you don’t have time, skip this step but gravy will taste better if you allow fat to harden so you remove it).

Transfer the pork to a clean saucepan. Some onion will stick to the pork, that is ok! Strain the liquid into a new saucepan, disposing of onion, garlic, and any solidified fat. Reheat liquid until boiling. In a bowl, mix flour/butter to make a smooth paste – this is called a Beurre Manie. To strained liquid add half the paste, 2 tsp red wine vinegar, 2 tsp salt. Whisk to combine. Taste the gravy then add more salt/vinegar if needed. If the gravy is too thin, add another 1/2 of the beurre manie until you’ve reached a perfect consistency. To finish, drizzle gravy overtop of pork, reheat in saucepan at a very low heat with a tight fitting lid. Transfer to individual bowls and top with more gravy. Optional: garnish with scallion or chives. Enjoy!
