🗳 Don't forget to VOTE like your life depends on it, because it actually does.

If you're gonna scroll, maybe grab an apple or some crudites?😉

In a world that loves convenient green gummies/smoothies/supplements, this is a general reminder that you can get your vitamins, minerals, and fiber straight from Mother Nature (though I will never hate on a multi-vitamin or a fiber gummy...they have their place).

As my mom used to say, "An apple a day, and you don't have to see the doctor..." or something like that🤣

👀 If you see me wearing the same outfit on repeat....

Yes I did, and I will do it again! 🤣

Decision making fatigue is real, and I will be making as few decisions as possible until further notice.

Oh, and it's Friday, don't forget to schedule rest in!!!😘

We've got better things to do. Period. ❤️

Leaving this here as a reminder for myself, and for anyone else who might need it.

Energy is a limited resource, so let's practice using it wisely.

What a privilege to be exhausted by the life I prayed for 🙏🏼

Working our dream around a full-time life as "weekend" farmers is exhilarating and empowering, also exhausting and depleting at times.

Honestly trying to figure out how to make this work without breaking myself in the process...it is naive for me to not acknowledge the growing responsibilities I have as the main domestic engineer in oir household. Also, I'm a human being with limits --- which my brain still struggles to admit, even after 47 whole years with myself!

We're not quitting our farm, but we are tinkering with new ideas for next season. Perhaps continuing our CSA at smaller scale, or finding new ways to bring our produce to our community that would be less demanding of our time.

The internal resistance to change is real, but I keep telling myself this is growth. Right?

RIGHT????!!! by @optimistic_bebe

The horrors persist, but so do beauty and awe💫

I think you deserve flowers so here's a photodump of flowers we grew this season on the farm.🫶🏽

🍎 First day of school for our 7th and 3rd graders --- one at a new school and another ready to exercise more independence on the bus. Let's gooo! 🤸🏻‍♀️ by @optimistic_bebe

These kids have been married 20 years 🥂

I had no idea we'd be the ones to move away and start a farm, but I sure am glad it's us.

Our relationship has never been perfect, it is messy because WE are messy, and we love and choose each other anyway --- because under all that mess, is mutual love, respect, and a sincere desire to help each other feel supported and fulfilled.

I guess we have that old school kind of love, huh?🥰

I am by no means a relationship expert, but here are a few ideas that have kept arguments from escalating beyond repair:

1) Go to bed angry. Don't believe the hype about making up before bed. False and forced apologies never land well. Get some rest, self-regulate a bit before you return to the discussion.

2) Be willing to be wrong. If you are never wrong, that means your partner is always wrong. Sometimes you have to lose the argument to win the relationship.

3) Find laughter and joy in the mundane. Around here, we still laugh at farts, and admire flowers as a family.

I love you @growinglettuce and I can't wait to see what the next 20 years hold in store!❤️✨️ by @optimistic_bebe

🥹 These little babies grow so fast! One of our favorite things about owning a microfarm is our ability to hand pick vegetable varieties. These purple beans are a favorite with the kids, and with the adults, too!

Have you tried purple beans before? The purple color is due to anthocyanins, the same anti-inflammatory compounds found in blueberries and purple grapes.

Eat them raw to enjoy their purple shade, or cook them and watch them turn green in the process. Either way, it's delicious!

Weekly slots still available. Link to order your hyper-local, organically grown produce at the link in the bio. Thanks for supporting your local farmer.☺️ by @optimistic_bebe

👨🏽‍🌾👩🏻‍🌾 Every share will be different, but here's an idea of what you will receive when you order one of our bundles --- you'll get an assortment of locally grown, freshly picked vegetables and a cut-flower bouquet. We are especially excited to include mizuna and gai lan in this week's box!

🫶🏽 Although we are at capacity for seasonal subscribers, we still have limited slots for weekly shares. Link in bio! by @optimistic_bebe

And just like that, we have one graduating to 7th grade, and another moving on to 3rd grade. 🥹

Big sis 🎸rocked out on her guitar in a performance at her last elementary school assembly, and surprised us all with an award for "Outstanding Academic Achievement." This girl has tricks up her sleeve and we are excited for what is to come beyond her current state of 6-7 purgatory 🤣. IYKYK!

Little one completed her first year at our neighborhood school, and rocked 2nd grade - a big change from Kinder and 1st grade where I attended with her daily. It wasn't an easy transition at first - I was banished from AM drop off because the separation was too much - but she quickly figured out the day was easier when dad dropped her off. She's learned so much about her capacity (which turns out to be quite a bit), and is looking forward to next year. ✨️

It was also their first and last year together at the same school.❤️

It's all happening so fast, and I keep catching myself thinking, "They will never again be as young as they are in this moment," and it's a weird feeling wanting them to grow into their own people while also cherishing who they are right now.🤲🏽

For now, they get to sleep in and enjoy the freedoms of summer (after they finish their daily reading and workbook pages, of course😉). by @optimistic_bebe
