There has always been a sofa-bed. What there hasn’t been is one designed like this. FOLD is drawn from the 1970s - but reconsidered from the inside out. A steel frame that holds. A proper mattress. Fabric chosen for how it feels as much as how it looks. And proportions drawn by a designer who cared about every detail. A sofa first. A bed when you need it. Built for the home - and everyone in it. Designed by Jessica Vedel. The sofa-bed that doesn’t look like one. FOLD is drawn from the 1970s fold-out bed - an idea we always loved, but never quite found in the form we were looking for. So we made it. Designed by Jessica Vedel. The backrest cushions are raised for both comfort and shape. A steel frame that supports as much as it defines. Soft proportions, considered details, and a mechanism that disappears into the piece. A sofa first. A bed when you need it. Without giving anything up. Two materials. Twelve colours. Made for homes that love design. We hope you love it. Botan & Jessica FOLD - designed and registered in Denmark. ostoofficial.com #ostoofficial #foldsofa #danishdesign #sofabed #sofa by @osto.design
There has always been a sofa-bed. What there hasn’t been is one built to our standard. FOLD is designed by Jessica Vedel - softer, more considered, and made to last. The backrest cushions are raised for comfort and shape. Two materials. Twelve colours. A mechanism that disappears into the design. A sofa that becomes a bed. Without compromise. We brought FOLD to one of the most beautiful homes we’ve seen. Stine turned a barn into this. High ceilings. Concrete floors. Art that stops you. The kind of space that takes years of decisions to get right. FOLD felt at home there immediately. The next designs are taking shape. Follow along. Designed with the past in mind. Built to last. When we first looked at the sofa beds of the 1970s, we saw something worth revisiting. The generosity of the proportions. The low, grounded presence. The sense that a piece of furniture could hold a room without demanding attention. But we also saw what was missing. Cleaner lines. A softer hand. Fabrics treated with more care - the kind that feels as considered as it looks. So we asked ourselves: what would it take to keep everything that made that era feel so alive, and quietly remove everything that dated it? The answer was FOLD. A piece that sits the way good furniture should - low, generous, unhurried. Soft enough to sink into. Precise enough to belong in a considered home. The kind of object that feels better the longer it stays in a room. We think a lot about longevity. Not just whether something will last, but whether it will still feel right in ten years. Whether it earns its place every day, not just the day it arrives. FOLD was designed to be used. Really used. 🤍 When we first designed FOLD, so much of its character came from taking the sofa bed seriously - not as a compromise, but as a piece of furniture that deserves to be beautiful, generous and effortless in equal measure. FOLD Stripes is our most daring fabric. A pattern with presence. The kind that changes a room the moment it enters - and somehow still makes everything feel easy. Because that’s what FOLD is. A sofa that holds a room. A bed that’s ready when you need it. A piece that looks exactly right the morning after. Available in two materials, each in a carefully selected range of colours - giving FOLD an entirely different character depending on your choice. This kind of sofa bed has existed since the 1970s. When we first designed FOLD, so much of its character came from taking that idea seriously - the sofa bed as a real piece of furniture, not a compromise. Generous proportions. A fabric that commands a room. A mechanism that disappears into the design. For this fabric, we chose FOLD Stripes. Our most daring choice. A pattern with presence - the kind that changes a room the moment it enters. It’s the same conviction at heart, expressed with more confidence. FOLD is available in two materials, each in a carefully selected range of colours - giving the sofa an entirely different character depending on your choice. Two people. One vision. Botan from fashion and photography. Jessica from furniture and interior design. Different worlds - the same belief that beautiful, functional furniture shouldn’t be a compromise. The sofa bed has been around since the 1970s. We loved the idea. We just couldn’t find a version with the modern expression we were looking for in our own home. So we built FOLD. And FOLD isn’t arriving alone. More sofas and new furniture pieces are on their way. New forms. Considered materials. The same standard. We hope you’ll stay with us. Botan & Jessica FOLD - designed and registered in Denmark. ostoofficial.com by @osto.design
The sofa bed is a 1970s idea. This is what it looks like now. The original was clever - a solution for smaller homes, late guests, lives that needed more from their furniture. We loved that idea. We just couldn’t find a version with the modern expression we were looking for in our own home. So we built FOLD. Every proportion considered. The fabric chosen to last and to age beautifully. The metal frame engineered to carry it all without ever showing the effort. FOLD Stripes is our most daring fabric. Not for every room. But unforgettable in the right one. This is Alba. She’s showing you how FOLD works. But really, she’s showing you how we think. We started OSTO because we believe a beautiful home is one of life’s great pleasures. Not a single purchase - but a considered life, built slowly, with pieces that are worthy of the space they live in. At OSTO, we believe the most beautiful homes are the most considered ones. Every piece chosen carefully. Every detail worth looking at. Nothing that doesn’t belong. FOLD is designed by Jessica Vedel with exactly that in mind. Sculptural enough to anchor a room. Flexible enough to live in fully. The fabric chosen to last and to age beautifully. The frame that carries it all - sofa by day, bed by night - without ever asking you to choose between function and the way your home looks. This is what we make. This is why we make it. It started with a need. So we created it. Not just a sofa. A piece that holds the family together, welcomes the friend who stays, and still looks beautiful when the weekend is over. We spent years getting FOLD to that standard. The frame engineered to carry it all without showing the effort. The fabric chosen to feel as good in ten years as it does today. Every detail considered - so you never have to be. FOLD - designed by Jessica Vedel.
