Four years, countless new experiences, and a community to call home. 🏈✨

From joining Ohio State’s ultimate frisbee team @osufever to exploring a future in health care, Meg Zeng @megnotannie made every moment count. As a health promotion, nutrition and exercise science major with a minor in psychology, she gained hands-on experience through volunteering, strengthened her leadership skills, and discovered new interests along the way.

From sharing food and traditions from their home countries to celebrating Christmas together, Zeng's Buckeye experience was enriched by meaningful friendships and cross-cultural connections that made her college years unforgettable.

💬 Her advice to future Buckeyes? “Don’t limit yourself. Step outside your comfort zone.”

Jo Kister ’63 BS, ’67 MS, ’81 PhD started her career as a home economics teacher at Westfall City Schools in her hometown.

She went on to pursue a PhD in Education Foundations and Research and to become the first woman to lead Ohio's Division of Vocational and Adult Education.

Kister played a critical role in guiding the state’s career and technical education system during a formative period.

Her leadership success was built on a simple, but vital concept: “I listened to the people who did the work,” she said.

Her commitment to students continues through the Kister Family Commons in Campbell Hall, a vibrant gathering space designed to foster studying, connecting and collaborating.

We are very grateful for Kister's leadership, generosity and continued investment in the student experience.

German educators have arrived on campus for the 2026 Ohio State–Fulbright Germany Hybrid Seminar on Innovation in the Classroom. Thirty German teachers representing a range of disciplines, grade levels, and geographic regions across Germany are at Ohio State for an immersive two-week residency.

A partnership between the German-American Fulbright Commission, the College of Education and Human Ecology and the Office of International Affairs, the program provides a comprehensive learning journey that enhances participants’ knowledge, skills, and cross-cultural understanding in the field of education while contributing to the internationalization of their teaching practice. The program seeks to foster international professional exchange and deepen participants’ understanding of innovative pedagogical approaches in U.S. educational contexts.

During their time at Ohio State, participants will engage in professional conversations with local educators, hands-on workshops led by Ohio State faculty and K–12 practitioners, school visits focused on innovative classroom practices, and cultural activities that highlight Columbus, Ohio, and the broader U.S. educational landscape.

This collaboration demonstrates how international academic exchange can directly strengthen classroom practice, foster intercultural understanding, and build sustainable institutional relationships.
