Take a peek at what our summer with the Gen:G Junior Champions was like! With over 70 hours of environmental education programming, visiting a dozen unique places in Detroit to learn from our partners and one another, we all (staff at GLS included!) are walking away with new knowledge, perspectives, and a recommitment to stewarding the places we call home.🌱💚 by @ourbackyarddetroit

Read more about the first Land Back project, Noojimo'waning, in the Planet Detroit article linked in our bio! We give thanks to and work in solidarity with the original and indefinite stewards of the land that we call Detroit, the nations of the Three Fires Confederacy, Ojibwe, Keepers of the Knowledge; Odawa, Keepers of the Trade Routes; and Bodewademi, Keepers of the Fire. We hope to continue to learn from and with these caretakers who see the sacredness of the lands and waters here, who can lead us into a future where respect and reverence for our ecological kin guide us.💚 by @ourbackyarddetroit

For our last post during Michigan's Pollution Prevention Week, we're sharing the impact of just one of our Everyday Champion mini-grant awardees! 🚲🔥 7TH ANNUAL JR. BLOCK CLUB BIKE RIDE!🔥🚲

Mannnn… watching these kids grow up and STILL pull up for each other year after year?! 🥹❤️ THAT’S the real win.

Rain? 🌧️ WE RIDING
Shine? ☀️ WE RIDING
Whatever the weather — THE KIDS KNOW WE OUTSIDE!😂🚲

Seven years of bikes, laughs, friendships, community and memories. These kids don’t just show up for the ride… they show up FOR EACH OTHER. And that means EVERYTHING. ❤️

Because when our kids see us keep showing up — rain or shine — they learn that community means you can count on your people. 🙌🏽

Big BIG love to our bike leader @deajae4 for keeping us moving every year! 🚲💨

And shoutout to our @detroit_police for NEVER missing this ride and continuing to show love and support to our kids. 💙

Detroit, you already know…

WE SURE DID RIDE!

7 years down. MANY more to go.
Jr. Block Club — we outside! ❤️
