Today. Everest: The Other Side is in theaters and IMAX worldwide.

Seven years. Three expeditions. One line on the direct north face of Everest — 9,000 feet from the summit down the Hornbein Couloir, the holy grail of ski mountaineering.

I’ve been an expedition climber for most of my life and a filmmaker for most of my career. This film required everything I’d learned from both. There was nothing in reserve.

The odds of failing were always greater than the odds of succeeding, and the team showed up anyway. Year after year, back to the empty side of the mountain, through everything that happened along the way. The camera team, the fixing team, the Sherpa team — this film is yours as much as anyone’s.

Jim, thank you for the friendship, the trust, and for letting us tell this story. Watching you dream it, commit to it, and ski it is something I’ll carry forever. @jimwmorrison

Hilaree, I hope this film makes you proud. You are always with us.

Thank you to @natgeo and @disneystudios for believing in a film that was mostly a question mark for years, and for putting it on the biggest screens in the world.

My mentor David Breashears brought Everest to IMAX in 1998. It’s an honor to follow him there. We built this to be as immersive as the mountain itself — go see it big.

We go into the mountains to recalibrate and find perspective. I hope this film does that for you.
