Men and the art of letting go.🤌

Devdas (2002) — Review

Devdas is not just a love story—it’s a tragic story about love, ego, social class, regret, and self-destruction.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali turns Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s classic into a visually grand cinematic experience, with Shah Rukh Khan as Devdas, Aishwarya Rai as Paro, and Madhuri Dixit as Chandramukhi.

The performances, music, massive sets, costumes and emotional intensity make the film unforgettable. Shah Rukh captures Devdas’ helplessness and downfall, while Aishwarya brings strength and emotion to Paro. Madhuri’s Chandramukhi is arguably the soul of the film—graceful, compassionate and heartbreaking.

The real tragedy of Devdas is that he loses the person he loves, but more importantly, he loses himself.

Rating: ⭐ 9/10

One line:
Some love stories end with separation. Devdas ends with a lifetime of regret.
