February is Black History Month, first designated as Negro History Week by noted historian Dr. Carter G. Woodson in 1926. We must not only continue to celebrate our history, we must teach it to our youth, because the forces in power are working to distort it, or convince our people it's unimportant. " We have to do with the past only as we can make it useful to the present and the future." - Frederick Douglass
