This fuel is ignited by the heightened temperature of the exhaust pipes, causing a visible explosion and audible crack (sometimes melted body panels). When this M3 GTR was entering corner 7 of Hutchinson Island raceway, the driver downshifted at the same point every lap. So when you look at this photo, understand that this is a precise collaboration of many scientific, car-loving, time-smoking adrenaline junkies over the past 17 years.
