~ French RAID Tactical Police Units Deployed in Nice

Yesterday, RAID (Research, Assistance, Intervention, Deterrence) elements were deployed in Nice’s City Center as all gatherings were banned in anticipation of the violent protests.

The RAID element deployed in Nice (southern France) were armed with their signature Keltec KSG-12 series shotguns fitted with Aimpoint CompM4S and Eotech 512 pattern optics as seen in Images 1-2. Keltec KSG-12 shotguns have been utilised by RAID since before 2018.

Slide 3 also features a RAID combatant armed with an H&K G36C rifle that’s fitted with an Aimpoint CompM4S optic as well as a Surefire M600 scout light and Magpul PMAG 30G magazine. Interestingly, an “FIPN” patch can be seen which corresponds to the “National Police Intervention Force” which is an operational structure that coordinates various police tactical units.

When activated, it is composed of RAID and its 7 regional branches. The RAID commander assumes operational command of FIPN upon activation.

Images 4-5 show additional RAID members armed with the ubiquitous “LBD-40” which is essentially a B&T GL-06 grenade launcher firing non lethal munitions. Additionally, Panhard PVP Dagger light armored vehicles can also be seen.

All RAID operators in these images appear to be donning Tiger Tailor PolGen Assault plate carriers with one operator seemingly carrying a Direct Action Gear Horizontal Mk III Med pouch.

What I like: The Tudor Black Bay 58 Burgundy definitely knows how to make an entrance.

That deep burgundy dial, the matching bezel and the beautiful five-link bracelet create a combination that’s both sporty and surprisingly elegant.

And what I particularly love is how the red changes with the light – from almost black to a vibrant cherry red.

For this shoot, I played with moody shadows, a touch of teal and some carefully placed light to bring out that character.

Not exactly your typical understated diver. And I wouldn’t want it any other way. 😉

What’s your take on the Burgundy? A refreshing twist on a classic or would you stick with black?
