This gorgeous woman, @moniazar913, is who I call mom. She is the ultimate example of grace, kindness, intelligence. As a child, she pushed me to be better every day. She never asked for perfection. But she expected me to always use my full potential. If I didn’t, the consequences were tough- cable cut off, phones were gone, I had to give her my keys, my beeper, until the next semester when there was an improvement in my grades. This taught me a work ethic that drives me today. She taught me confidence, she taught me to speak up, she instilled in me a feeling that there was nothing I couldn’t do. You didn’t need much other than a good working skill. She taught me beauty was skin deep. Use your brain to get ahead. Make room for everyone at the table. You’re not better than the person next to you just because your title is different. . A single mother who so eloquently balanced discipline, friendship, fun, mothering, and never made us feel like we were lacking because we weren’t a two-parent household. At times, my childhood wasn’t idyllic. But I’d choose it all over again, to have you. You’re my biggest inspiration, my superhero. My life. Thank you for being the best mother, the best grandmother, this world has ever seen. I love you mom. More than I could ever express. More than you’ll ever know. Happy Mother’s Day.
