Can we talk about DRIVING ANXIETY during PERIMENOPAUSE?! 😩🚗 Baby, I’ve been driving for over 30 years! I’ve survived Dallas traffic, construction, and people who apparently got their driver’s licenses out of a cereal box! Now all of a sudden, my brain wants to hold an emergency meeting every time I get on the highway! 😂 I’m driving 65 mph, minding my business, and my brain says, “BUT WHAT IF SOMETHING HAPPENS? WHAT THE HELL YOU MEAN?! WE’VE BEEN DOING THIS FOR THREE DECADES! 🤣 And don’t let me get on a bridge or have an 18-wheeler pull up beside me! I’m gripping that steering wheel like it owes me child support! Here’s what nobody tells us: Fluctuating estrogen during perimenopause can contribute to anxiety, disrupted sleep, and increased sensitivity to stress. Sometimes that anxiety shows up behind the wheel! A few things that may help: 🚗 Practice slow breathing before driving. ☕ Cut back on caffeine if it makes you jittery. 😴 Prioritize sleep and manage those night sweats. 🧠 Ease back into driving with familiar routes. ❤️ Talk to your doctor about new anxiety, dizziness, or palpitations. Don’t automatically blame hormones! Between the hot flashes, brain fog, and disappearing patience, NOW MY NERVOUS SYSTEM WANTS TO BE A BACKSEAT DRIVER TOO?! Ma’am, GET IN THE BACK AND BE QUIET! I’VE GOT PLACES TO GO! 😂 Ladies, has perimenopause made you anxious about driving, especially on highways, bridges, or at night? Because I KNOW somebody else is having arguments with their own brain at a stoplight! 👇🏽🤣 #Perimenopause #MenopauseHumor #DrivingAnxiety #WomensHealth #HeyShantaQ GrownNotGone

Some marriages last 43 years, but that doesn't always mean they were happy. Sometimes, the world sees a beautiful love story while one person quietly sacrifices their dreams. 💔 Everyone admired my parents' marriage. Four children, a beautiful home, Sunday dinners, and anniversary photographs. People called my mother lucky, but nobody ever asked what she truly wanted. After her funeral, my aunt revealed a secret: my mother had wanted to leave in 1987. She had found a small apartment, applied for a receptionist job, and planned how to support her four children. But my father made it clear that if she left, the children would stay with him. With no savings, no lawyer, and nowhere to go, she stayed. Years later, I discovered her little wooden box. Inside were photographs, birthday cards, and a bankbook. She had quietly saved $20 every month, building a balance of $1,460. Tucked inside was a note: “For a little trip someday. Somewhere with the ocean. Just me.” After decades of caring for everyone, cooking thousands of meals, and remembering every birthday, all my mother wanted was a little time for herself. Then my seventeen-year-old daughter asked my father a question nobody else had dared to ask: “Grandpa, if Grandma had her own money, do you think she would have stayed?” For the first time, he had nothing to say. That silence changed how I understood my mother's life. Her polite smiles, the groceries she returned when his card failed, and the jokes about her questioning bills suddenly felt different. People often praise marriages that last a lifetime, but longevity alone doesn't prove happiness. Sometimes two people stay together because they choose each other. Sometimes one stays because leaving feels impossible. My mother deserved financial independence, the freedom to pursue her dreams, and the chance to see the ocean she had dreamed about for so long. She deserved a life where her happiness mattered, too. ❤️ **Commitment should never require someone to abandon themselves.
