Never fell for the clean girl lulu set propaganda • This photoshoot explores the complexities of female intimacy and platonic homoeroticism. The tenderness, sensuality and physical closeness between women that doesn’t necessarily stem from romantic or sexual desire. Through provocative imagery, I wanted to play with the tension between what the viewer sees and what they assume, challenging the way society interprets affection between women through a sexual lens. The same gestures that would be considered inherently gay between men can exist between women as expressions of trust, playfulness and deep platonic love. The intention isn’t to deny the sensuality of the image, but to challenge the idea that sensuality must always lead to desire. Female friendships can be intimate, expressive and profound without needing to be categorized as romantic or sexual. This is a celebration of girlhood, shared experiences and the freedom to love another woman deeply without having to define that love. Female intimacy doesn’t have to be sexualized to be meaningful and friendship doesn’t have to be less intimate to be platonic.
