Detached, not defeated.. 🤍

I’m so thrilled to be onstage with this phenomenal cast and ensemble in Sir Andrew Lloyd Weber’s @jesuschristsuperstar at the legendary @drurylaneproductions from Oct 16-31. These are some of the most talented people I’ve ever worked with- and the nicest as well. Hope to see you at the Drury Lane!

Well… I’m another year older. 🎂🎉

Age is a funny thing… my perspective of life at 30 was that (especially as an athlete) I was over the hill, but now that I’m in my 40’s I feel the knowledge of life that I have amassed makes me feel somehow much younger and more confident in who I am.

Despite my crash and all of the things that have happened to me, the good, the bad the ugly… I’m always thankful to be in this life. Thankful for all the love and support I’ve received. 🙏🏻❤️ cheers to another one!

I’m 55. My skin is loose in places. My forehead wrinkles. My eyes crinkle. My belly looks different when I stop holding it in.

I’m also strong, active, and comfortable showing you all of it. ❤️

I choose to care for my body and mind. That doesn’t mean my skin will stop aging, or that it needs to.

The wrinkles don’t bother me. What I question is the story we’ve been told: that as women age, we lose our beauty, our desirability, and somehow our worth, if we don’t continue looking young.

Men become “silver foxes.” Their bellies can be considered sexy. Meanwhile, women are expected to keep looking like time never touched us.

I’m choosing a different story.

I can love my body as it is and keep caring for it, so that I’m healthy.

Acceptance and effort can exist together. So can muscles and loose skin.

For me, the beauty of aging is in getting to keep living, growing, and becoming more myself. Aging is a privilege. I want to experience it without constantly inspecting myself for something to fix.

Your life. Your body. Your choices. Including choices different from mine.

But let them come from what feels right for YOU. You get to question what you’ve been taught to dislike about yourself.

We don’t control every change aging brings. We do have a say in the meaning we give those changes, and how we treat ourselves along the way.

What’s one belief about aging you’re ready to let go of?
