“Dr. Strange Returns” - JBP So so so so so so happy to have mom and dad at our Halloween party!! Couldn’t think of a more appropriate outfit for dad than Dr. Strange. (Mom’s Edna from The Incredibles. Hubby was Homelander and I was Elle Woods from Legally Blonde). Thanks to everyone who came out :) - Mik
Follow me to cut through the hype 💎 Comment “links” to get my picks! Same knot, same high vamp, same bitter brown, $955 apart. Given all the luxury extras that Bottega’s got, I was really disappointed to see that it doesn’t quite curve to the foot. That’s bananas at $1,150. I get that the suede’s shagginess is a design choice. But I expect luxury shoes to be shaped like luxury, not blobs. Luxury extras so you can easily spot them in the wild: 🧵 More stitches per inch means finer work. Bottega’s got 11 stitches per inch. The other loafer: 10. 🪢 Knot (or any trim): the ropes should run parallel all the way around ✂️ Strap edge: a finished lip, not a raw cut 🤎 Suede: a long, shaggy pile reads casual, a short, dense, fine pile reads polished Bottega wins on execution. The lookalike wins on fit, with a vamp that follows the foot and three widths. I’d recommend it even if the Bottega didn’t exist. Affordable luxury finds! A California startup is developing a 7-foot chainsaw-wielding centaur robot designed to enter places too dangerous for humans. 🤖🪚 Called Threehalves, the robot is being developed by Satyress Robotics in Auburn, California. It combines a humanoid upper body with four legs for stability on rough terrain. The goal is to help workers operate safely in hazardous environments, including wildfire zones, collapsed buildings, and dangerous forestry sites. A human operator would control the robot using joystick-style controls. Its modular arms are designed to accept interchangeable tools such as chainsaws, drills, and screwdrivers, allowing skilled workers to perform dangerous jobs from a safer location. Even its unusual appearance serves a purpose. Cameras inside its horns are intended to help operators track its limbs and tools, while mechanical failsafes are designed to lock its joints if the robot loses air pressure or motor control. The project is still in the prototype stage, with no confirmed commercial release date. Its creator, Beau Gaston, says the goal is to protect workers from dangerous conditions rather than replace them. Be honest, if this thing walked out of the smoke to rescue you, would you feel relieved or terrified? 💀 Follow @longliveai for more AI, robotics, and future technology updates.
