The other day I was in line at Costco looking at the cute young couple checking out in front of me. The wife had triplets in the front of a full cart and the husband had a flat bed cart stacked high with diapers. The cashier read their total ($550) and the husband dug in his wallet only to realize he'd left his credit card at home. I casually listened as he asked his wife if she had her card (she didn't) and the cashier asked if they had apple pay (they didn't). "That sucks" I thought as they got ready to leave their stuff and go home to get their credit card. Then it hit me (duh) "hey, do you have venmo?" I asked him. He did! "I'll buy your stuff and you can venmo me!"
It was the simplest thing, but they were so grateful. I walked out of Costco with a big smile on my face and a happiness in my heart that I hadn't felt in awhile. Sure I helped them, but doing something nice for someone else helped me even more. -That's the magic of service. ✨
