🇺🇸 **STREET FIGHTER ALPHA 2 BROUGHT THE ARCADE BATTLE HOME! 🔥👊** Released in arcades in **1996**, *Street Fighter Alpha 2* quickly reached home consoles, with versions for **PlayStation, Sega Saturn and Super Nintendo**. The game expanded the first Alpha with a larger roster, new stages and a major gameplay addition: **Custom Combos**, allowing players to create their own sequences of attacks while a special meter was active. The roster included **Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Akuma, Sagat, M. Bison**, plus characters like Sakura, Rolento and Gen. The **Saturn and PlayStation** versions delivered experiences much closer to the arcade, but the most impressive conversion may have been the SNES. Capcom somehow squeezed Alpha 2 onto 16-bit hardware using the **S-DD1 chip** for graphics data decompression. It had compromises — including loading pauses — but seeing this game running on SNES was a technical achievement. 🔥👊** #StreetFighterAlpha2 #StreetFighter #SuperNintendo #RetroGaming #Retrogames

🌍🎺 Bob Thiele and George David Weiss – What a Wonderful World, arr. Weston Lewis Doreen Ketchens – clarinet ⚜️ University of Texas Wind Ensemble – Jerry Junkin • On hearing the slow tempo, Larry Newton, president of ABC Records, tried to stop the session in which Louis Armstrong was recording this song, in Las Vegas, in the early hours. The producer Bob Thiele, co-writer of the song with George David Weiss, signed the composition as George Douglas. Newton did not promote the record in the United States, where the single sold fewer than a thousand copies. In April 1968, the record reached the top of the British chart. Billboard's main chart in the United States only included it after the director Barry Levinson used the recording in the film Good Morning, Vietnam. • Listen again and notice the opening: near the 10-second mark, Doreen's clarinet changes notes several times a second, with her hands in close-up on the keys. Then, near the 35-second mark, she returns again and again to the same high note, in short taps separated by small dips in the sound. • Doreen joined the school band when she was trying to get out of a history exam, and chose the clarinet because the flute was common, as she told Jazz88 radio. Today she plays at the corner of Royal and St. Peter streets in New Orleans, four days a week, according to NPR. On this recording, according to the video description, she uses a Firebird clarinet with a marble mouthpiece. The Wind Repertory Project links this video to a concert of hers with the University of Texas Wind Ensemble, conducted by Jerry Junkin, who appears at the end of the clip, with his arms raised on the podium. • 👉 Follow for the best of classical music daily on your feed. • #doreenketchens #whatawonderfulworld #clarinet #classicalmusic
