The last U.S. president to wear a full beard while in office was Benjamin Harrison, who served from 1889 to 1893. Before him, presidents including Abraham Lincoln, Ulysses S. Grant, and James Garfield also wore beards. Facial hair was fashionable in the 19th century and was often associated with masculinity, maturity, and authority. The last president to wear any facial hair regularly was William Howard Taft, who had a mustache until 1913. Since then, presidents have generally stayed clean-shaven because grooming fashions changed, and a smooth face became associated with professionalism, cleanliness, and a conventional presidential appearance. There is no rule requiring presidents to shave, but maintaining a familiar public image matters in politics. Like this content? Follow us for more @dadsaysjokes ❤️
