He’s been asking me for the longest time when he could ride his own bike to school, but I have to regularly tell him it isn’t safe. There are plastic delineators on the bike lane but to be honest I don’t think those are enough to remind him to stay out of traffic when he’s excited and having fun. @milwaukeedpw recently added concrete jersey barriers along part of our route to school which was really appreciated but still not quite enough for me to think it was safe for a first grader.

But the snow banks…. Those run along the entire bike lane and make a fantastic barrier! So I’ve been keeping an eye on conditions and the plowing, and finally today everything came together just right for him to get his wish of riding to school!
