It is with great excitement to exhibit at Rosetta Arts Centre @rosettaarts for LGBTQIA+ History Month.

We are thrilled to unveil ‘Rosetta Presents: LGBTQIA+ History Month’, an exhibition showcasing the rich tapestry of queer experiences within Newham. To celebrate and explore queer histories, we invited artists who identify within the LGBTQIA+ spectrum to contribute to this group show. The exhibition responds to the question: “What does it mean to be queer in Newham?”

Recent census figures show one in 20 people in Newham aged under 35 years old identify as LGBTQIA+. Newham also has the highest proportion of trans people in the country making this a pivotal time to give local LGBTQIA+ artists a space to share their work. As part of the wider LGBTQIA+ History Month, we chose to reflect on the current experiences of queer folks in Newham. Each artwork tackles various themes from the intersectionality of gender and politics to gender identity. Exhibiting artists include; Miles Coote, Amy-Rose Holland, Frankie, Cami O’Hagan, PJ Dracovich, Jo Wood, Felix Wall, Tabitha Hall, Mikaella Mousicos, Levi Hibbert and Russell Barratt.

Additionally, we will host a stimulating panel discussion, chaired by Rosetta Arts Amy-Rose Holland and featuring exhibiting artists and Emma King from Social Convention; delving into the theme of what it means to be queer in Newham.
