Calum McIlroy

Only just now getting a chance to say a massive thanks to everyone for their messages about my winning performance for BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician 2024 on Sunday.

It was a joy to take part in the competition this year, largely down to the craic and good vibes from my fellow finalists, @ellamunro14, Matt Tighe, @eviejowaddell, @john.dew.7, and of course @ruairidh_macilleghlais; and indeed to the semifinalists, Scott, George, Saffron, Juliette, Blythe, and Robert.

It was an absolute treat to get to play with @jennbutterworth, @jenaustinpiano and @signyjak, who took the role of “backing band” quite literally with the level of support they provided. 🌟

Thanks to @simonthoumire at @handsupfortrad, @joydunlop (pictured, hilariously), the lovely judging panel, and everybody behind the scenes at @bbcscotland @bbcradioscot @bbc.alba 🎥🎧

And of course, to my friends and family who came from far and wide to support me. 🫶🏻🫵🏻

Looking forward to the year ahead 💋🏆
