$Office Space is a cult-classic 1999 satirical comedy film written and directed by Mike Judge that hilariously captures the soul-crushing monotony of 1990s white-collar corporate life. The story follows Peter Gibbons (Ron Livingston), a miserable software engineer at the generic company Initech, who undergoes a hypnotherapy session that gets cut short when his therapist dies of a heart attack. Left in a permanent state of total, blissful apathy, Peter stops caring about corporate rules, openly insults his micromanaging boss Bill Lumbergh (Gary Cole), and winds up getting promoted for his brutal honesty. Alongside his equally frustrated coworkers, Samir and Michael Bolton, Peter hatches a scheme to infect Initech’s accounting system with a virus that steals fractions of a cent, all while their unhinged, stapler-obsessed colleague Milton (Stephen Root) quietly threatens to burn the building down.$

What I like about watch photography? Sometimes it’s all about trying something different.

For this Quantum shoot, I stepped away from my usual setups. Just a deep blue background, some creative angles, tighter crops, and a little experiment with light and perspective.

A different approach, but one I really enjoyed shooting!

What do you think? More of this spontaneous style or back to my usual setups? 👀

If I am killed for simply living, let death be kinder than man. -Althea Davis

[ TW: distressing information and animal death ]
Something different from our usual art, but we felt compelled to speak up about this issue and advocate for our feathered friends the crows🐦‍⬛ This year, Singapore carried out operations of crow culling, with recent videos of it going viral as onlookers watch. Many comments flooded these videos, with a mix of strong support and hate for the crows, as well as much protests for the cruelty of the act and a call for better methods. We saw these videos and they were heart breaking, however it was also an opportunity to educate more people about the plight of these animals, and what better methods we can turn to.

The culling of crows without addressing long term solutions is just a quick way to reduce their numbers. It only leads to a cruel cycle. Instead, the key to long term wildlife management is education, prevention, and learning from successful methods employed in other cities.

So what can we do?
1. Better waste management: make sure your trash is disposed properly, especially food scraps.
2. Do not feed wildlife/crows
3. Give their nesting areas space and walk past calmly, carrying an umbrella if you have one.
4. Support and advocate for more human solutions.

The crow problem (and other urban animals) in many cities is human made, they don’t deserve to pay the price for problems our urban systems and people have created. We can build a safe city that can co-exist with urban wildlife with a bit more patience, empathy, compassion and understanding.

(special thanks and credit to @eyesofacres @urbanbirdsinitiativesg for information in their posts, please consider supporting their cause as well as your local wildlife organisations that advocate for urban animals!)
