Crispy, cast iron cornbread! Probably one of the most recognizable southern sides and it really does go with anything! I’ve always just tweaked the recipe right off the back of the white lily bag and used a @smitheyironware no.11 or no. 12 skillet to keep it thinner and crispier! Let me know that one meal you just can’t enjoy without cornbread! Ingredients • 1 large egg • 2 cups @whitelily self-rising cornmeal mix • 1 tablespoon sugar • 1⅔ cups buttermilk • ¼ cup melted butter • 2 tablespoons butter, for the skillet Directions Preheat oven to 425°F with a cast iron skillet inside. Whisk the egg, then gently stir in the cornmeal mix, sugar, buttermilk, and melted butter until just combined. The batter will be lumpy—don’t overmix. Carefully remove the hot skillet from the oven. Add 2 tablespoons butter and let it melt and foam, then swirl to coat the skillet. Pour in the batter and bake for 20–30 minutes, until golden. #cornbread #castiron #easyrecipe #southerncooking #nostalgia

More than a few people told me a book like this wouldn’t sell. I kept going anyway... And now I’m sitting here picking cities for my book tour for the book I poured my heart and soul into, The Home Within. This experience is one of the most vulnerable things I’ve ever challenged myself to do. And I really can’t wait to see what you think. Tell me where I should visit on my book tour! Where do you live? I’m listening 💛
