Maria Ghavasieh, also known as Mahsa Ghavasieh, was a 21-year-old woman from Shiraz. Orphaned at a young age, she continued her education and was remembered as joyful, energetic, and hopeful about her future.

Maria had participated in the November 2019 protests and was arrested. When the Woman, Life, Freedom uprising began in 2022, she once again joined the demonstrations.

On November 5, 2022, Maria was arrested during protests in Shiraz and taken to Adelabad Prison. Reports state that she was severely beaten, tortured, and assaulted in custody, and died from her injuries a few days later.
