Happy 33th birthday to me🎂 I’m letting go of what I thought life should look like, and deeply loving what it actually is.🙏🩵

Sometimes, the most painful feeling isn't being alone. It's realizing how many people you've shown up for, only to wonder who would show up for you. ❤️‍🩹

Emily was about to turn 40 when she canceled her birthday party. The restaurant was booked, the cake was ordered, and twenty people were invited. But deep down, she wondered whether anyone genuinely wanted to celebrate her.

When she showed me her phone, I understood. Some people hadn't replied, others were unsure, and someone even asked if she was paying for everyone's dinner.

For years, Emily had remembered everyone's birthdays, organized trips, and made sure everyone felt special. Yet she'd quietly started believing that if she stopped making an effort, nobody would make one for her.

So I asked her, "What would make you happy instead?"

She wanted a little Italian restaurant, her red dress, good food, and one peaceful evening without worrying about anyone else.

And that's exactly what we did. We ate too much pasta, shared some wine, laughed until our stomachs hurt, and celebrated with two cupcakes and a single candle.

When I told her to make a wish, she laughed through her tears.

That night reminded me of something important.

A crowded room doesn't guarantee that you won't feel lonely. Sometimes, one genuine person is worth more than a hundred people who barely notice you're there.

Never measure your worth by the size of your crowd. You deserve friendships where effort goes both ways, where you're remembered without asking, and where you don't have to beg for the bare minimum.

If you're always the person who checks on everyone, remembers every detail, and makes others feel special, remember to leave some room for yourself, too.

You don't have to prove your worth by being useful to everyone.

Because in the end, it's not about how many people know your birthday. It's about who makes you feel that your life is worth celebrating. ❤️

You deserve to be someone people show up for, too.

Ten years of therapy taught me how often my brain is full of shit. Learning when to ignore it has been more useful than trying to silence it forever.
