Why Friendship Breakups Are Harder Than Relationship Breakups — Singer Mayorkun Singer Mayorkun has shared his thoughts on why friendship breakups can be more difficult to deal with than romantic relationship breakups. Speaking on the In My Opinion podcast, Mayorkun said people invest more into friendships because genuine friendship requires actually liking and connecting with someone. “Friendship breakup are harder than relationships breakup because you invest more into friendship.” He explained that while romantic relationships have a sexual element, friendship is largely about companionship and genuinely enjoying the person’s presence. “You are not really getting anything from friendship. Apart from like maybe companion and all. But in a relationship there is still small sexual something inside. In friendship you have to actually like that person before that person becomes your friend.” Mayorkun added that recovering from the end of a friendship can make it difficult to build another close bond with someone. “So if the thing ends don’t worry you will get a new girlfriend before you get a new friend.” He further said: “Friendship breakup makes it hard to now want to go into another friendship relationship with someone except you are the type that calls everyone your friend.”
