Bougafer 1933: Why singing happily and proudly about it?
Celebrating already the 91st memorial of the battle that opposed resistance from Ait Atta when the French army attempted to invade the southeast regions of Morocco.
Starting in mid February, the resistance persisted for more than a month.
Using the geography and their knowledge of the land to gain the higher hand even under siege and when outnumbered.
The confrontations were bloody and intense.
Yet, their high level of organization and courage of the resistance forced the enemy, even after they tried in vain to use their aviation, to resort to dialogue.
Women, beside being an active part of the resistance, were the back bone of their determination. Encouraging their dear ones and celebrating them in both their lively actions as well as honoring their memory. With poems they passed down singing, their legacy is preserved through time.
For love, be it of the land or of our closest souls, transcends time and even death.
