Your boy is the First Ever Creator in Residence at La Mer ! 😭 But first some context: a few months ago, I boarded a flight from LA to NYC. By the time I landed, my skin felt like it was on fire; with each passing minute the discomfort, swelling, redness and visible irritation increased. The airport staff asked me if I needed to go to the ER and I declined because well…the timing of all this was very precarious. I was in New York at the request of one of the most revered luxury skincare brands in the world. The team had spent 6 months planning this shoot in New York to celebrate my “coronation” as their First-Ever-Creator-In-Residence and I was supposed to appear on camera in 2 days to memorialize this huge career milestone…that’s right : 2 days. In the past I needed at LEAST 2 weeks to recover from an allergy like this. “How am I supposed to be camera ready in 2 days” I thought to myself. Extreme panic started setting in….what I discovered next made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. After diligent cross referencing and comparing notes, I found others online experiencing the EXACT same mysterious symptoms. Apparently we all had used a sunscreen containing ethyl ferulate. I felt a deep pit of anxiety…embarrassed even. Even though it wasn’t my fault…I felt ashamed.
