Today is National Semicolon Day and I believe there is strength in sharing your testimony. My freshman/sophomore year of college was one of the hardest times of my life. Almost everyday, I considered taking my own life. I prayed and asked God to reveal reasons why I should stay and continue this journey we call life. One of the main reasons I’m still here is due to my changed perspective on life. I started to view living as a blessing and begin appreciating the “small” things. I also started to accept that I am human and it’s okay if I need assistance. I often think about the experiences I would have missed if I took my life away. Things like starting a business, traveling to another country, becoming a plant mom, joining my dream sorority, developing new hobbies. continuously witnessing the beauty of nature and simply watching myself grow as a human being. I hope this post can encourage those who may be struggling. I know it may feel as things will never get better, but you have to keep going and I promise it will. Stay grounded and FEEL your emotions. Get the help you need if you are able! Don’t beat yourself up for feeling hopeless, but remember it won’t be like this forever! Please feel free to reach out if you ever need support.
