When was the last time you practiced NOT falling over? 😜

Balance isn’t just something you have. It’s something you TRAIN!

Today in the gym, I turned balance training into a little game. First, standing on one leg. Then swinging my arms, adding biceps curls, and finally reaching around an imaginary clock face.

Each progression challenges your core, coordination, proprioception, and ability to stay stable while moving.

And here’s why it matters: Better balance today means more stability, confidence, and independence tomorrow.

Just 3–5 minutes of daily practice can help you build this essential skill. Start near something sturdy and make it progressively harder as you improve.

Your challenge today: Can you stand on one leg for 30 seconds? Bonus points if you can move your arms! SHOW ME!

Last week @pitztaler_gletscher Ski Resort in Austria gathered interest in Austrian media for destroying the glacier end of the Mittelberg Glacier for “maintenance”. The resort claims that it was necessary to be able to provide an emergency exit for skiers in winter. Since the resort is silent on this I try to put this all into a bigger perspective and give some further insights.

The images show what the glacier end looked like days before it all got smashed down by an excavator.

Glaciers and there ends are living nature monuments showing the undisputed beauty of nature. They offer a view into the ice and show the abstract beauty nature is forming over time. In winter landscapes like these turn into winterwonderlands.
One of the images from this spot from two winters ago was selected as “Best of Show” at this year’s @iphotoawards and second place in the category “Nature/Seasons”.

Although the resort claims that this “maintenance“ (a bit of a sarcastic word for something like this) work was necessary and legal, there are some questions to be raised. And not everything that is allowed from a legal perspective goes along with moral integrity also claiming to be a sustainable ski resort.

Why are they not aware and sensitive after such a record hot summer that this is highly irritating and can cause exactly these reactions?
Why did they not at least evaluate another solution for this year?
Why is there silence from the resort since people started to raise questions on all this?

All this shows that companies who leverage glaciers for business still have a lot to learn about sustainability. They have to protect the environment they leverage for business much better. It seems they have not at all understood what is going on with our planet and the climate right now.

It is not my intention to destroy anyone or create rage. I want to foster a necessary discussion what is going on in high alpine landscapes and how resorts act.
