An astounding display of creativity.

Literarily captivating, visually stunning, and sonically entrancing. ->

The Lord of the Rings trilogy has always held a special place in my heart. Tolkien’s books, story and personal visuals hold significant weight, but what really had an impact on me was the passion and practicality that was put into the films.

Forever one of my greatest inspirations, Howard Shore, who composed and scored the trilogy, graciously gifted this epic the most impressive and expressive sonic landscape a story has ever had, and that left an impact on me.

The score filled me with a burning desire to create something with as much meaning and emotional integrity as possible. I often lean on it and use it as a North Star to my writing.

Being a South Indian, I was always romanticised by the idea of Karva Chauth, largely thanks to Bollywood movies. When I got married, I remember thinking, “This is something I would love to do too.” I love my husband, and I felt this was one beautiful way of expressing that love.

And here we are, 15 years later, and I’m still keeping the fast! I’m that South Indian woman who loves dressing up traditionally, sitting amidst all the beautifully dressed ladies, embracing the rituals and participating in whatever way I can.

But you know what? There’s something truly beautiful about these rituals. And I can only speak for myself here. For me, it comes straight from the heart. It’s never about believing that this is the only way to express my love for my husband. It’s simply one of the many little ways in which I choose to celebrate that love.

And the beauty is that he is equally involved in the whole process. When he’s home, he’s around, constantly checking on me, asking if I’m okay, and being there for the Chand dekhna and all the little traditions that come with it.

I think that’s what makes these rituals special. It’s not just about the fasting or the customs; it’s about the emotions, the togetherness and the little moments that become memories. And that’s the real beauty of it all.
