It’s been 2 weeks today since my Mam passed away so suddenly at 49.. That’s roughly 77 texts, 14 hours of calls & 6 visits we’ve missed out on. Maybe a babysitting session for your grandson too. I keep having “last time” moments.. The last time I was in this shop I was on the phone to you, the last time I was on a plane she was were there with me, the last time we went to train together,, her last cup of tea in my house, the last call, the last hug.. I never knew that those were our last times, Mam. I keep seeing you walk into the sitting room, keep going to text you or call you. It’s like it’s engrained in my mind or a knee jerk reaction. You don’t just stop being my number 1 confidante, problem solver & best friend overnight. I know you will never be replaced. I keep getting this weird feeling of anticipation. Waiting for the new norm to really sink in. But Mam, even when they turned off the machine, even when they closed your coffin, it just doesn’t feel real. I don’t want it to be real. I want to stretch that millisecond of disorientation I get in the morning right before I remember, oh that’s true.. she’s really gone for as long as I can. I look at my son& since becoming a mother myself, there’s so much more I understand about everything you did for us. I mean it even more now when I call you my idol mam, SO driven & determined, you made it all happen against the odds.. there’s much more I wanted to thank you for. So much I still wanted to ask you, so much I thought we’d have years to talk about. Then I look at the others.. There was so much we all still needed you for.. especially Zara, all the little things & all the big things she should have had her Mam there for. None of us will ever be able to give her the experience you gave to us. You are irreplaceable Mam. The impact you have made on so many lives, despite our grief, we’ve just felt so proud to be your family. We need your help more than ever right now Mam, please send us all your strength. We miss you more each day.. we love you forever Mam. Xx
