![Eminem and Kid Rock are proving that political differences donβt necessarily have to end a friendship.
The two Detroit musicians have reunited for a new collaboration on Kid Rockβs upcoming faith-based album, Halfway 2 Jesus, despite their opposing political views. Kid Rock is a vocal supporter of President Donald Trump, while Eminem has publicly criticized Trump and supported Democratic candidates.
Speaking with Billboard, Kid Rock revealed that he and Eminem have maintained their friendship for nearly 40 years.
βWeβve been friends for, like, 40 years,β Kid Rock explained. βI really didnβt want to drag him into my political world.β
He added that while they occasionally discuss politics, they donβt allow their disagreements to interfere with their relationship.
Their friendship inspired Eminemβs verse on the song βHeal My Faith,β which reportedly reflects on their early days together, including Kid Rock supporting Eminem before he became a superstar.
According to Kid Rock, one particular lyric left him emotional:
βHeβs my brother, not my political enemy.β
Kid Rock said the verse gave him chills and brought him to tears after hearing the finished recording.
Interestingly, Eminem was originally scheduled to appear on another song, β7 Sins,β before switching tracks. Lil Wayne ultimately stepped in to replace him.
Kid Rock says his new album, scheduled for release October 17, focuses on forgiveness, second chances and bringing people together despite their differences.
βThis [album] is about forgiveness and second chances,β he explained.](https://s8.imginn.com/849098163_18476261863114396_2329081524863102752_n.jpg?t51.82787-15/849098163_18476261863114396_2329081524863102752_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_e35_p1179x1179_tt6&_nc_cat=105&ig_cache_key=NDAwOTI1OTMzMDIwNDE3OTE5Ng%3D%3D.3-ccb7-5&ccb=7-5&_nc_sid=58cdad&efg=eyJ2ZW5jb2RlX3RhZyI6IkZFRUQueHBpZHMuMTYzMi5zZHIucmVndWxhcl9waG90by5DMyJ9&_nc_ohc=XbmsaXB4NLwQ7kNvwEOP7Yh&_nc_oc=AdqItUnivqZ-5zghGuAElNRBrQrn68sgow-TyLI4ZYVMR35I3FN-S_aL5w5U5fHkFlfLQmcImcNRJzLJ7eRbMgf-&_nc_zt=23&_nc_ht=scontent-mia3-2.cdninstagram.com&_nc_gid=KAFmdyt6DByeJGL1qN8hBw&_nc_ss=70689&oh=00_AQO8bu6VIJhM2C0p9ipJW3KF-m-1SEwrx--H1Z-RkIKBQA&oe=6AD825A7)
