We have had a stressful few days with animal health related issues, but the last twenty-four hours have been brutal. Most things can be resolved onsite at the sanctuary, but sometimes we are left with no choice but to send an animal to a hospital that is hours away. Basil wasn’t feeling well last night, so Dr. Christina saw him this morning. He wasn’t eating and seemed uncomfortable, but an ultrasound didn’t reveal anything obvious so we began supportive care. Throughout the day, Basil became more uncomfortable and in obvious pain. Dr. Christina came back and this time, she didn’t see movement in his intestines. That is a very serious emergency. Basil isn’t doing well and is being rushed to the hospital now. If you know Basil, you know how special and loved he is. Basil was neglected as a baby and infection in his front legs caused both front legs to rot and fall off. He’s been with us for several years now, and has a very happy life! We are so scared, but this is beyond what we can manage here. Emergency surgery is definitely a possibility tonight.

Please help us raise funds for Basil’s emergency hospital visit so we can confidently say “yes” to anything he needs. He is the most special boy ever, and this is devastating for all of us here. Please help Basil if you are able to! Thank you very much! 😭🙏
