Crimea has always been a source of empowerment and inspiration for all of us. Many Ukrainians have been enjoying its serene nature, especially throughout the summer and fall.
After Russia colonized Crimea, they were happy to take this area and conducted a major media campaign called “Crimea is ours”.
The upcoming exhibition features prints created with photos taken in Crimea between 2010 and 2019 years.
Because of the risk to my family’s safety and house on the Crimean peninsula, I was keeping my stories and images from Crimea in private.
Today, after our house was demolished, I can speak publicly about my experiences in Crimea from Ukrainian times untill annexation in May-June 2015, including interacting with brainwashed individuals, meeting soldiers and observing ruzzian propaganda.
The three parts of the series were created to immerse us in various impressions.
From enjoying the beauty and serenity during ukrainian times till an inner conflict arises from filling migration blanks on the border while visiting your favorite crimean residence as a “guest” during annexation.
I invite you to follow three states of Crimean Peninsula:
● Our Crimea: place of power during Ukrainian times;
● Their Crimea: surreal surrounding during ruzzian annexation;
● My Crimea: finding a balance to handle the surrounding, learning to accept and compromising with reality.
