Honey Dijon digs deep into her early musical influences and selects her Proto House picks. #Yazoo – State Farm Known as Yaz in North America for contractual reasons, the dynamic combination of Vince Clarke’s synth wizardry / melodies and Alison Moyet’s bluesy vocals proved irresistible. “No one man owns House. House is an amalgamation of sound. Its roots run deep: the Sound of Philadelphia, the soul of Motown, the magic of The Salsoul Orchestra. Add the Teutonic pulse of Kraftwerk, the glamour of Italo Disco, the industrial and synthpop edge of the UK, and the New Wave/No Wave of New York’s underground. It was the collision of subcultures and musical expression that laid the foundation for a movement that went on to take over the world. Here are a few selections for your consideration and enjoyment”. Honey Dijon Human League - Love Action Dancefloor highlight of the band’s monumental Dare, and centrepiece of the League Unlimited Orchestra’s dubbed out remix take on the album by Martin Rushent. MUTE 001. Daniel Miller, then a young London film editor working alone, started the label just to put the record out. Grace Jones covered it in 1980. No one man owns House. House is an amalgamation of sound. Its roots run deep: the Sound of Philadelphia, the soul of Motown, the magic of The Salsoul Orchestra. Honey Dijon Spandau Ballet - Chant No. 1 (I Don’t Need This Pressure On) Driven by the relentless horn section of Brit Funkers Beggar & Co, Chant was the highlight of the band’s all too brief clubland excursions phase. Telex - Moskow Diskow An early (and global) electronic dancefloor staple from a Belgian trio who specialised in experimental cover versions (though this track is self-penned) and opted to remain anonymous. Rookie Season!❤️
Eminem and Kid Rock are proving that political differences don’t necessarily have to end a friendship. The two Detroit musicians have reunited for a new collaboration on Kid Rock’s upcoming faith-based album, Halfway 2 Jesus, despite their opposing political views. Kid Rock is a vocal supporter of President Donald Trump, while Eminem has publicly criticized Trump and supported Democratic candidates. Speaking with Billboard, Kid Rock revealed that he and Eminem have maintained their friendship for nearly 40 years. “We’ve been friends for, like, 40 years,” Kid Rock explained. “I really didn’t want to drag him into my political world.” He added that while they occasionally discuss politics, they don’t allow their disagreements to interfere with their relationship. Their friendship inspired Eminem’s verse on the song “Heal My Faith,” which reportedly reflects on their early days together, including Kid Rock supporting Eminem before he became a superstar. According to Kid Rock, one particular lyric left him emotional: “He’s my brother, not my political enemy.” Kid Rock said the verse gave him chills and brought him to tears after hearing the finished recording. Interestingly, Eminem was originally scheduled to appear on another song, “7 Sins,” before switching tracks. Lil Wayne ultimately stepped in to replace him. Kid Rock says his new album, scheduled for release October 17, focuses on forgiveness, second chances and bringing people together despite their differences. “This [album] is about forgiveness and second chances,” he explained.
If you can swing it, travelling in the shoulder seasons is the way to go. I felt like I had @hideawaybluewaters to myself and I loved that for me. No line ups, no waits for anything. Speaking of no waits - I have never attended a more ‘on-time’ resort in my life. When they said breakfast delivery at 8:30am, at 8:30am someone was knocking at my door with breakfast. The butlers were outside my room two minutes before I was expected at dinner (they escorted me which was really sweet as a solo traveller) and when we got there my table was ready for me. I was always served right away and so it seemed were the people around me. The food is an easy 9.5 out of 10. I tried Calypso (Caribbean), Armadillo (Tex Mex) and Grazie (Italian) while I was there and each one went above and beyond in quality and flavour. This resort is highly accessible for wheelchair users. I clocked ramps all the way down to the beach. If mobility is an issue you will be able to access whatever you want. The beaches? Stunning. No notes. White sand, no rocks, clear water, beautiful waves. Overall an incredible experience. I stayed at the family side in 2018. The adult side in 2026. Loved them both and will be back to experience either again 🇯🇲 #Togetherness #RoyaltonHideaway #Hosted #Jamaica
